    …Detroit?

-Free (or almost) big houses(as long as you’re able to do some repairs).

-A big metropolitan area of 5 million people.

-Many jobs in IT (much less in manufacturing, but anyway, Frum Jews don’t like menial jobs).

-Incentives to attract new residents and small-business owners.

Yes, there is crime, but it’s mostly gang-related crime and anyway, I don’t think it’d be worse than Bed-Stuy. Besides if Jews start moving, property prices will increase, and indesirable elements will move out.

If thousands of Frum Jews start moving to Detroit, with their high birth-rate, they could at last have their own city in a couple of generations. Picture a new Jerusalem in the heart of america, governed according to the halacha.

Other cities with cheap housing which are near major metropolitan areas could also be considered. Gary or Camden for example. These ones could easily be taken over. 😀

    ^^

There are many jobs in IT and biotechnology in Metro-Detroit.

However that’s not the point. The point is, it’s easier to take over an existing city or town and transform it by democratic means to meet the needs of all Practicing Jews than creating one from scratch (see Monsey, etc..).

Is this some sort of sick demented joke???

    MOVE TO ERETZ YISRAEL!

    1. Strongest Torah learning in the world!

    2. Cheap Affordable Healthcare for everyone!

    3. Free day care for children from age 3!

    4. All Jews even the secular know when Shabbat comes in because all the buses and public transportation disappear, Yes even in Tel Aviv.

    5. The buses remind you to say Sefirat HaOmer.

    6. On Yom Kippur everyone even the most secular keep the day holy at least in public and 70% of the public fasts. Even the international Ben Gurion airport shuts down.

    7. For those with TV you can watch Parshat Hashavua discussion a couple hours before Shabbat on national TV.

    8. On Pesach Bread is almost no where to be found and over 66% of the public keep Kosher L Pesach.

    9. On Chag Sukkot, sukkahs are seen everyone and I mean everywhere.

    10. 94% of males get a Brit and 98% of homes have a Mezuza.

    11. As the Gemara teaches in Eretz Yisrael one has a God and in Chutz Laaretz you don’t and furthermore its better to live in a idolatrous city here in Eretz Yisrael than in a entire Jewish Frum, Black Hate and Strimal dominated Detroit.

    Come home soon!

Well, if you can’t get a job (because let’s say…you lack secular education), you can create YOUR OWN JOB.

That’s something yidden have always done.

You can even smuggle kosher liquor from Canada….ok, that’s a joke…don’t delete my post plz. 😀

I need at least 300 shtiblach to choose from, as well as 16 groceries.

For my boys I need at least 20 Yeshivos that won’t accept them, and for the girls I need four schools that will.

I don’t like eating the same pizza all the time; I need a choice of pizza stores to choose from.

I always come late to shul and need to have a minyan factory in order to daven with minyan.

You out of towners are pathetic. I can’t believe that you think we might leave out ghettos!

    @golfer

    These areas are NYC—>

-Most Expensive housing in the world (with permission of Tel Aviv).

-Not a suiteable place to raise a large family.

-Too liberal, idolatrous and untzinus for a G-D fearing jew.

-You can’t govern yourself in NYC according to your beliefs and values. Too big and diverse to influence local politics.

PS: Actually I’d suggest Dafina instead of Carp fish. oops!…Did I Say That?

If Jews, both religious and secular,…are not making their aliyah (and many israelis are leaving for the US, Berlin, London, etc…) it’s because they have their own reasons.

-From a secular point of view,…life too expensive and salaries too low.

-From a religious perspective,…no temple, no Moshiach,….and add to that, outward hostility towards the religious. It’s a lot easier to be a jew in the diaspora than in Israel.

Why don’t you move to…. Mercury? It has a gorgeous view of the sun. In fact, it’s the closest planet to the sun in our solar system. Only 35,980,000 miles (57,910,000 km) away. If you want a small, out of town place, Mercury is the smallest planet. It has an orbital period of about 88 days, so the years will just fly by. Mercury is rich in iron, so you’ll never have to worry about wrinkled shirts or the losing pleats.

Sorry if I piqued your interest – the last spacecraft landed there in 2004. You missed the bus. You should have read this post sooner.

Why move to Detroit? It’s not mentioned anywhere in Tanach.

ymbyi – Israel is also the only “democratic” (and even that is questionable) country where it is acceptable to be an open anti-Semite, as long as you hate the right (or wrong) type of Jew (and that comes from both sides of the spectrum).

Maybe I am living with rose colored glasses in a Jerusalem bubble, I don’t recall having encountered “open hostility”. Of course there is, unknown to ymbi, the sefiras haomer reminders on the buses fell victim to the threats of a lunatic anti dati, it just does not threaten my life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.

    Forget about Detroit.

How about a halachic state while waiting for the coming of Moshiach?

If Mormons can have their own state, why not Frum Jews?

North Dakota for example,…has an ageing population of just 700.000. In a couple of generations Yidden become a majority. Much better than jewish enclaves in the heart of Goyish urban centres, which could lead to assimilation in the long run. My two cents. 🙂

Haleivi: Are you a Stoliner Chossid?

YOu’re probably not in Detroit anyway, but rather in Oak Park or Southfield. Unless you really are a Stoliner, in which case you were in Clinton Township.

ben_David: Quite the contrary. We don’t get bombarded by goyish holidays. It’s Hashem’s Land. Make all the excuses you want, but we also learn that just like Mitzraim, 80% of Jews won’t make it out of Golus, for the same kind of reasons you are espousing.

For the first time in 2,000 years, we have an opportunity to show Hashem where we stand. Think about it a bit more.

For those of you so concerned about money. Salaries may be lower, though not in all cases, but think your disposable income after tuitions. Tuition here are minuscule by comparison.
