I think it would be a good idea if I lived in moshe rabbeinuis generation to be close to such a tzaddik.
March 6, 2015 12:18 am at 12:18 am #1063337akupermaParticipantClose to a tsaddik, but…
no air conditioning, no central heat in winter, no indoor plumbing
no antibiotics
no anesthetics for surgery – no pain killers other than alcohol (nothing stronger than wine)
50% child mortality, and perhaps 20% maternal mortality in childbirth
no preservatives for food (so you often ate spoiled food)
no printing, no telecommunications, no mechanical transportation
no electrictity – meaning no lights other than candles or oil lamps
We should be grateful Ha-Shem lets us live in the most comfortable and affluent time ever.

That’s kind of our own fault.

March 8, 2015 9:28 pm at 9:28 pm #1063343Little FroggieParticipantHashem, in His infinite wisdom, placed you (and me) in the precise “setting” that suits our mission here. Nothing would have been accomplished by having ourselves planted in a different generation or setting.
March 8, 2015 9:36 pm at 9:36 pm #1063344147ParticipantI feel so special to have been around to live thru Hakomas Medinat Yisroel and thru seizure of “Har HaBayit bYodeinu” on Yom Yerusholayim of 6 day war, and to have seen the Entebbe hostages being welcome @Ben Gurion Airport.
I pity today’s young generations who cannot relate to the euphoria of these awesome events that haShem showered upon us.

HAshem does evreything for our best, and included in that is: in what genaration we live, where we are location wise, where we are in life (jobs, school), ad infinitum

And how do you know previous generations were such saints. The people in the Midbar were punished for Baal Pe-or. Zimri and Cozby were as much a debuchery as anything that occurs today.
People who worshipped Molech would send their children through fire to worship the gods (mostly killing them)
