BS”D
LOL – Chaim Israel (in the can for a driving offense) and……………………..LIPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!
Gad Elbaz is far from being a jailbird; Matisyahu does not ACT IF he belongs in the nuthouse…..or is someone conflating Matisyahu with Chaim Israel’s present “yeshiva” which is called Maasiyahu :).
December 21, 2008 11:28 pm at 11:28 pm #1055116TOHIGHSCHOOLGUYMembersorry to spoil the party here, but most of these artists have in some way or another stolen (borrowed) music from pop culture
Take for example:
1) Lev Tahor’s Asher Bara – the initial guitar solo, and the lead towards the end of the song have been taken from the Scorpion’s “Rock you like a hurricane”
As well, the orchestra at the beggining, and during the interlude in the middle of the song is also copied from a concert that they did while in berlin … youtube the song (thats how i found out), and pick the live in berlin 03
2) MBD – has copied Andrew Lloyd Webber’s music (“Close every door to me” in Joseph and the technicolor dream coat)
I could go on …

“I think he is conflicted between his British residency and his American thinking. “
American Thinking? Is that what impression I give??? I’ve never touched American soil believe it or not. It’s definitely on my agenda though!
American soil? What is that? Of course you have never touched American soil – you couldn’t even if you had been to visit the colonies. I shall report you to Her Highness.
American soil, indeed.

December 22, 2008 7:34 pm at 7:34 pm #1055139SJSinNYCMembermyshadow and intellegent, I really don’t enjoy music. I can tolerate many types of music (classical, rap, rock), but I dont enjoy listening. Sometimes though, I really enjoy a good bout of singing (even though I am so bad people cannot often understand what tune I am singing LOL).
I actually enjoy being along with my thoughts 🙂

BS”D
Which one?
The former – that is public knowledge and I purposely added why he was incarcerated. I actually believe his incarceration was unfair; a hefty fine and community service, including recording a song, free of charge, about driving safely, would have done much more good.
The latter – his whole success is derived from his meshugge act and off-center costumes and I am only promoting him free of charge LOL.
December 22, 2008 8:49 pm at 8:49 pm #1055141myshadowMemberwow. I looooove music, I think it allows you to express feelings and emotions just by listening, but the singing does work too! Tried and tested! lol

December 23, 2008 2:28 pm at 2:28 pm #1055145tzippiMemberI was debating on writing this here or contacting the eds, figure I might get an answer sooner here: what is the policy on letting through posts that clearly contain rechilus or lashon hara? Unless the person in question clearly, clearly falls under the category of mumar l’hachis or someone it’s a mitzvah to talk this way about?

December 29, 2008 5:07 pm at 5:07 pm #1055165Why Do I Even BotherMemberyros,
“His voice is no good. His songs are not Jewish. What’s happening to our generation?”
YOU.
You are what’s happening to our generation. You dont like his voice? Dont listen! You think his songs are not Jewish? So certainly dont listen!
But to publically say another persons voice is not good, especially when its his parnassah, that is certainly wrong.
And you are worried about Frum Yidden discussing the Superbowl (See Sports thread). Please. Check your Lashon Hara at the door before giving mussar to others…
December 29, 2008 5:30 pm at 5:30 pm #1055167The Rabbis daughtersMemberIt’s all a matter of your own opinion you like your music and and i like mine. And i think lipa sings well and its fun and entertaining to listen to.
