December 21, 2008 3:28 am at 3:28 am #1055071aziParticipantI don’t really like any Jewish music, so I guess I cant be apart of this topic. Oh well.
December 21, 2008 4:08 am at 4:08 am #1055072JosephParticipantbrooklyn19,
Oddly noitallmr spelled favorite the American way, rather than the British “favourite.”

December 21, 2008 4:15 am at 4:15 am #1055074JosephParticipantI think he is conflicted between his British residency and his American thinking.
December 21, 2008 4:19 am at 4:19 am #1055075brooklyn19ParticipantOh well he’d probably be better off the other way around. American residency and British thinking.

December 21, 2008 4:39 am at 4:39 am #1055077AshreinuParticipantChaim Dovid, Yosef Karduner, Soulfarm, C. Lanzbom & Noah Solomon, Neshama Carlebach, a shtikle Simply Tsfat and recently liking Diaspora Yeshiva Band (from my parents generation). Also, Eitan and Shlomo Katz as well, they add freshness to the genre.
For the uninitiated, these are Carlebach-style musicians. Lanzbom and Solomon are really worth checking out. They are MASTER musicians with great talent and excellent guitar work. Most of their CD’s (that they produce together) are Carlebach inspired guitar pieces. The music just hits your heart and soul in just the right places. It’s real chizuk… Hearing them live is just heavenly!
The “ay, ya, yay” music on today’s Jewish music scene just doesn’t reach me. It honestly sounds more like electronica than music, and I have a hard time listening to it. I take my Jewish music seriously and for some reason just can’t connect to modern Jewish pop. The one exception is some of Yaakov Shwekey’s music.

in what city/country was it that you heard him in???
December 21, 2008 5:32 am at 5:32 am #1055089aziParticipantI heard Shloimy Steinamn at a chassuna in New York. I would say the name of the families if I could so people could recognize the singer if they were there. (if they wont delete it the chossons last name was Gellis). He was singing with Shloimy Daskal which I know has CD’s out in stores. He’s also very good.
December 21, 2008 6:57 am at 6:57 am #1055090mazal77ParticipantI have 2 cd’s from a singer called Yitzhak Simcha. I can listen to them over and over again. Yaacov Shweky of course is unbeliveable. The power and feeling he sings with is amazing and it really reaches into your soul. I heard him sing at a wedding in the summer, I thought it was a tape, my friend told me it really was him live!! Avraham Fried, MBD, Dovid Gabay, Baruch Levine, Shalshales/ junior.

Try Megama (and if you find the original, let me know), Ruach Revival, and much more from that tekufa (acoustic, yay!).

I spell it “Favourite” but I’m using Firefox which has American Spellcheck, but it only checks spelling on the main typing box and not on the topic heading therefore the heading is “favourite” and the main box is “favorite” after being corrected!!!
Well observed both of you!
“I think he is conflicted between his British residency and his American thinking. “
American Thinking? Is that what impression I give??? I’ve never touched American soil believe it or not. It’s definitely on my agenda though!
“Oh well he’d probably be better off the other way around. American residency and British thinking. “
Couldn’t more then agree! lol

Its possible the chosson Ezi Gellis is a friend of Shloimy Steinman. Maybe he’s not a real singer. He should be though.
