Ordering new shirts for yuntif…
Would you purchase:
A) Paul Frederick shirts for $20
or
B) Charles Tyrwhitt shirts for $30
Also, do you prefer regular or non-iron?
March 9, 2015 1:00 pm at 1:00 pm #1065515Veltz MeshugenerMemberIf you are really the rosh yeshiva, you should get them from the thrift shop.
March 9, 2015 1:28 pm at 1:28 pm #1065516NahapochuMemberCT, Non Iron, any weave but Poplin. I recommend twill, basket weave, or royal panama. PF shirts aren’t that nice.
March 9, 2015 1:32 pm at 1:32 pm #1065517akupermaParticipantWalmart does mail order (even to cities that ban Walmarts, largely due to its low prices and large selections). Their shirts are half the cost and include “comfort collars” so you won’t looklike someone wearing a too small shirt that forces you to leave the top button undone.
March 9, 2015 5:42 pm at 5:42 pm #1065518ToiParticipantdef. CT. unbeatable quality and style.
March 9, 2015 7:07 pm at 7:07 pm #1065519nolongersingleMemberHow do you get CT for $30? I thought there’s an additional shipping fee.
March 9, 2015 7:52 pm at 7:52 pm #1065520charliehallParticipantNo place in the US bans Walmart per se. It is just that many places, NYC included, have zoning laws that make it difficult for Walmart to build their huge stores.
March 9, 2015 9:33 pm at 9:33 pm #1065521theroshyeshivaParticipant@VM- The rambam in hilchos talmud torah says a talmid chochom should dress in the style of a beinoni- not an ashir, not an ani, but a beinoni. Thrift shop doesn’t fit the bill.
@nahapochu- I’m leaning toward CT, non-iron, but I like how thin poplin feels, why don’t you recommend?
@nolongersingle- it’s $10 for shipping under $100, $15 over $100
March 10, 2015 12:45 am at 12:45 am #1065523JosephParticipantAre they any better than the shirts for sale in the Hat Box and other heimishe merchants?
March 12, 2015 12:27 am at 12:27 am #1065524☢️ Rand0m3x 🎲ParticipantI need more details, specifically, why it might be worth paying $10 more for a CT shirt than a PF (a 50% increase, to be dramatic).
March 12, 2015 2:08 am at 2:08 am #1065525JosephParticipantSo you can show off the “better” label to your friends.
March 12, 2015 5:18 pm at 5:18 pm #1065526ToiParticipantive had 8 cts for 4 years, most of them look like they just came out of the box. the 2 pfs i had both ripped at the cuff. ct’s customer service is great, pf’s acted snidely from the time i asked for shipping to lakewood.
March 12, 2015 7:48 pm at 7:48 pm #1065527BarryLS1ParticipantHow do you get Paul Frederick shirts for $20? Their biggest prom that I haven’t seen in a long time, was 3 for $100.
March 12, 2015 9:14 pm at 9:14 pm #1065528shtusimParticipantIf you buy NON IRON – its less work for your wife or you save by not sending the shirts to the cleaners !
March 12, 2015 9:20 pm at 9:20 pm #1065529☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant…and you won’t set off the metal detector when you pass through airport security.
March 12, 2015 9:25 pm at 9:25 pm #1065530commonsenseParticipantct much much better! Have had both and ct much nicer and last longer. Pf crease terribly even after good ironing. ct has a nice selection.
March 12, 2015 10:05 pm at 10:05 pm #1065531takahmamashParticipantIf you buy NON IRON – its less work for your wife or you save by not sending the shirts to the cleaners !
Why less work for his wife? He can’t iron them himself?
March 12, 2015 11:40 pm at 11:40 pm #1065532cent_centParticipantDefinitely the CT. I got a few a little while back when they were on sale and I have been very impressed by the quality. They come out of the wash looking brand new and are very comfortable.
March 13, 2015 12:45 am at 12:45 am #1065533JosephParticipantWhy less work for his wife?
Because naturally the wife tends to the household duties.
March 13, 2015 7:50 am at 7:50 am #1065534PulauwinParticipantIf CT is more expensive, is for a reson. You get what you pay for!
March 13, 2015 1:33 pm at 1:33 pm #1065535☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantHow do KS shirts compare to CT or PF?
March 20, 2015 12:20 am at 12:20 am #1065536☢️ Rand0m3x 🎲ParticipantIn case anyone doesn’t know, KS = Kirkland Signature (Costco).
Do they make shirts without collar-point buttons?
March 20, 2015 12:48 am at 12:48 am #1065537☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYes
March 20, 2015 1:14 am at 1:14 am #1065538JosephParticipantKS products are high quality.
