I am currently in TCLA and want to transfer to New York for a better premed program. Does anyone know which school, Lander for women in Flatbush, or Manhattan is a better choice? I’m looking for an academically rigorous school that will prepare me for the MCAT, as well as one with good advisement. I want to stay in a frum college for now, so I’m trying to decide between Touro Manhattan or Flatbush.
Thank you.

I think that’s an oxymoron!

September 16, 2016 5:11 am at 5:11 am #1180063bk613ParticipantLander college for women is considered to be “better” and more academic than the Flatbush division.
Health, not sure where you are getting your information from. The notion that “it’s Touro it must be bad” is false, many Touro students, including pre med ones, do very well and go to prestigious graduate programs.
Huju, law schools don’t have pre med programs.

From myself. I went there!
“The notion that “it’s Touro it must be bad” is false, many Touro students, including pre med ones, do very well and go to prestigious graduate programs.”
There’s a difference between the program and a smart person!
Btw, I’m a male, maybe the women schools are better?!?
September 16, 2016 2:07 pm at 2:07 pm #1180065ccguyParticipantI’ve been in Lander College for Men and in a CUNY college. The sciences in Lander were much more rigorous than the CUNY.

And what’s your point? Please tell e/o what CUNY stands for!

i.e. Brooklyn College, Queens College, etc.
My point is that these are decent schools. I’m not saying they’re amazing or anything but they provide the education needed to get into graduate programs. Touro is not any worse and it also provides the knowledge necessary for these programs. Just because a school isn’t “elite” doesn’t mean it can’t provide a decent education.

You brought up CUNY, not me! Fyi, they’re a lot of schools besides those two!
“My point is that these are decent schools”
I wouldn’t argue, but it seems that you missed my point!
September 16, 2016 5:35 pm at 5:35 pm #1180069ccguyParticipantHealth: Isn’t that what ect.implies? Where did I ever suggest that those are the only two?
I must’ve missed your point. Would you be so kind to explain what your point is? All you seemed to ask what my point was. Maybe you could elaborate a little more if it isn’t too difficult for you. I’d really appreciate it.
September 16, 2016 5:37 pm at 5:37 pm #1180070MenoParticipantHealth,
Ccguy just made a simple statement, “The sciences in Lander were much more rigorous than the CUNY,” and then you started yelling at him about what CUNY stands for, and your “point” that he apparently missed.
What are you talking about? And why are you yelling?
Also,
“Fyi, they’re a lot of schools besides those two!”
Fyi, he said “etc.”
September 16, 2016 7:34 pm at 7:34 pm #1180071HealthParticipantMeno -“What are you talking about?”
I’ll explain in the next post.
“And why are you yelling?”
In the CR – only posting in all Capital letters is called yelling!!!

This was your post -“City University of New York
i.e. Brooklyn College, Queens College, etc.”
The ect. only implies something in the category of CUNY!
“I must’ve missed your point. Would you be so kind to explain what your point is?”
My point was in the tri- State area, the’re a lot of schools and some are considered from the top in the US!

You are correct that the ect was only going on the CUNY. But that’s all I was trying to define, as you so kindly requested. What does the fact that there are top schools have to do with the fact that others are adequate and have other advantages over these top schools?
I don’t know where come up with these rules that only caps lock is yelling but even so, what are you trying to convey with exclamation marks. I think it’s ridiculous unless you are trying to yell.
September 16, 2016 10:10 pm at 10:10 pm #1180074PreMedMemberbk613, ccguy- Thank you for the info, much appreciated!
September 16, 2016 10:40 pm at 10:40 pm #1180075SparklyMemberPreMed – touro ONLY gives DO NOT MD.

No one said that they weren’t!
But you now understand my point!!!

PreMed, I assume you know of Stern- their science/premed program is pretty good, from what I have heard, YU in general has a good academic reputation. Hashkafically, it is different from Touro, but still it is a frum school.
September 18, 2016 12:48 am at 12:48 am #1180078hujuParticipantCan anyone recommend a clown college for bk613, so that he can understand my brilliant posts? Is there, perhaps, a Borscht Belt Community College with a good clown program that will also feel comfortable for frum students?
