I heard of someone being in “Ichud Country”. (that’s somewhere north/south/east/west of Monticello, NY)
Just wondering which country the “city” is in!
August 23, 2015 10:06 pm at 10:06 pm #1098542skripkaParticipantwho could guess where skripka is from!

I was thinking Skripka’s name might be a clue about
his hometown, but it’s just Russian for “violin.”
August 24, 2015 9:41 pm at 9:41 pm #1098548skripkaParticipanti would love to know what you were thinking 🙂 plus, who said thats not a clue?
August 24, 2015 10:36 pm at 10:36 pm #1098549Happy Go Lucky!!ParticipantYou play the violin in Russian?
August 24, 2015 11:46 pm at 11:46 pm #1098550skripkaParticipantI sing in russian, i play in plutonian

“who could guess where skripka is from!” was meant to imply that the name was indicative in some way. Otherwise, why not use “I?”

September 1, 2015 2:17 pm at 2:17 pm #1098554apushatayidParticipantI once picked up a fellow hitching a ride from Monroe to “the country”. He repeatedly asked me what country I’m from and I repeatedly replied the US. He was getting VERY frustrated with my reply and I was getting irritated by his seemingly repetitive question, so I finally asked him what country he was from, to which he replied, Skolya in South Fallsburg!
September 1, 2015 3:30 pm at 3:30 pm #1098555Happy Go Lucky!!ParticipantThat, actually, was the gist of my starting this thread. (to dissect a joke…)
September 1, 2015 3:39 pm at 3:39 pm #1098556apushatayidParticipantThere is a sefer written that covers many halachic and hashkafic scenarios that arise during the summer months and the word “countries” is used throughout. For example, (it is written in yiddish – this is my translation) when discussing eruvin it says: all “countries” should be sure their eruv is constructed and properly supervised by those expert in hilchos eruvin.

September 2, 2015 7:22 pm at 7:22 pm #1098558screwdriverdelightParticipantI think skripka and Happy Go Lucky come from the same pod.
September 2, 2015 8:27 pm at 8:27 pm #1098559Happy Go Lucky!!ParticipantNope. As far as I know.. I is I, not him, her or it.
I live in the country of the United Lands, commonly known in Israel as “The States”. – that already was giving out too much personal, private information. (for all I know you could be a stalker, zeroing in on my location… now you know which “country” I live in)
September 3, 2015 6:42 pm at 6:42 pm #1098560screwdriverdelightParticipantYou’ve already said elsewhere that you live in NYC.
Sorry for the stalking, but hey, you are super cool.
