Where can I get the best selection? Best prices? etc.

Try B & H Photo, http://www.bhphotovideo.com. They are located in manhattan NY. They have a huge selection & great prices.
B&H is the biggest (or almost the biggest) photo store in the USA, and their prices and service is gevaldig.

B&H doesn’t have the greatest prices. If you do some research online, you can find places to buy that are considerably cheaper.
Do some research as to what model you want, then go to pricegrabber.com They will show the prices from a bunch of stores, and yo can find the cheapest price.
I have yet to see B&H come out even close to the cheapest there.

beware of pricegrabber
they will show stores that are scams and give very poor service if any, those are usually the cheapest prices
stick with B&H
also beach camera and profeel
B&H has top notch service.
(re: above, its funny how Reb Moshe and the Satmar Rav too were called hotheaded and too heilige by those who didn’t like the message.)
while on this topic..can anyone suggest a good camera company? it doesn’t need to be anything fancy..just a relatively thin camera..that takes very clear pictures!
Cannon gives grea shots, basic camera.

The first things to think of before buying a digital camera are features you need/want, and price range.

B&H has a reputation for honest and knowledgeable salespeople.
You will often find better prices from online sellers, but not always.
Canon Powershot A570IS. It’s good enough for the basic user, and powerful enough if you want to play around with things. It’s not as skinny as their other model which is popular, but you pay more for a thinner (and less feature packed camera) camera.
i got mine directly from sony!!!! i have a sony cybershot with 8.1mp-they now have a 10.1mp as well—i love this camera, it was a little costly but very worth it!!!
While you can dissagree with Joseph’s opinions and manner of presenting them, it is inappropriate to stoop to personal insults. Especially uncalled for from a moderator!!!

While sometimes there are one off deals that beat B&H (or J&R) and other top retailers, be very careful with Pricegrabber deals. Many are from bucket shops that drive you crazy to add useless accessories, or surprise you at the very end with an inflated shipping charge. At B&H you’ll never go wrong; I think J&R are now in the same category.
B&H and Adorama are both quite good, and have a very good rep with pro photographers. They are also both Jewish owned and provide many Jews (Frum and otherwise) with a good job.
I very much enjoy shopping there when I visit NY

pricegrabber also now lists reviews for the seller, not only the product. So, when you search for something, you can see how others rated the seller.
I’ve used pricegrabber many times, and never had a problem. They directed me to stores such as Amazon, Newegg, and other big-name stores. I’ve saved hundreds of dollars through them.
Example: Last year I bought a camcorder. B&H sold the model I wanted for about $225. I got it through pricegrabber for $140, from a very good online store.
Feif Un: First of all, B.H. does have the best prices. Second of all, even if they don’t why not give yidden business? the store is fully owned by frum yidden? especially when so many yidden need money?
