Tuesday afternoon is the best time of the week to purchase a ticket.
Where are you going? I may have some tips on bargain airlines for you.
Last winter, we flew to Florida twice, once paying $29 ea way, and once paying $49 ea way, plus $30 to check our bags.
December 5, 2011 5:11 am at 5:11 am #833206✡onegoal™ParticipantI just booked 2 round trip tickets to New York for $158 (that was the total for both tickets) and change for Tuesday. I booked it on spirit, they always have good deals but they don’t fly everywhere and they charge for all baggage even a carry on.

Dansdeals.com had the following link to a Virgin America coupon that is valid for flying until Feb 15. Get the coupon now, book between 12/15 – 12/30 fly between 1/3 – 2/15 and get 25% off. JFK LAX or JFK SFO for just over $200. It worth a try:

Generally i like to use kayak.com to search for tickets.
December 5, 2011 11:46 pm at 11:46 pm #833210yummy cupcakeMemberthanks everyone. onegoal, that’s amazing! but i checked spirit already. i guess i’ll check again. thanks! and ronrsr, why tuesday?
December 6, 2011 1:04 am at 1:04 am #833211ronrsrMemberthe best bargains are found midweek – prices tend to rise slightly on weekends. Tuesday afternoon is when the bargains go out and the prices are the lowest.
This is not my observation, it is from an article on buying tickets cheap. In my experience, it is so, too.
December 6, 2011 4:39 am at 4:39 am #833212✡onegoal™ParticipantYes it is great, but it depends on if you want to stay for a while or just go up for the day (date, meeting, farher, shopping, etc.) Spirit is great if you are doing what I am, going up for the day, but if you want to take a trip where you will have to bring baggage then you will have to check how much they charge, and calculate it to see if it’s still the good deal it seems like.
