Whats the story there?
June 1, 2011 5:35 pm at 5:35 pm #804784Pac-ManMemberWhen did they close? Didn’t they move across the street and expand recently?
June 1, 2011 5:50 pm at 5:50 pm #804785OfcourseMemberThey closed months ago and its been empty since. There were rumors that another BP supermarket will have a second location there, but I dont see any activity yet.

June 2, 2011 12:57 am at 12:57 am #804790OfcourseMemberTime will tell, but Im wondering if BP has enough Pomegranate-type customers (price is no object, and buy lots of take-out). BPers are more price-conscious and more into home-made and might not get as excited about expensive artistic displays.
June 2, 2011 4:12 am at 4:12 am #804791cherrybimParticipantAnyone know who Friedman was?
June 2, 2011 4:35 am at 4:35 am #804792The original owner Mr. Friedman was niftar. His son who used to work in the store and sold lives in Staten Island. He also has a sister whose husband is a Rebbe in upper classes at Y.O.B. The store was sold to someone who at once had affiliation with Glatt Mart. In my opinion, had they stayed small as in the original store, business would have not gone down and force them to close.
About Pomogranate coming to B.P., yes it is true they are an upper class type of store. However, many of their customers travel from elsewhere. Their valet parking makes it convenient.
There is no sign saying only such and such welcome. There service is great and their store was a pleasure to shop in the few times i did drop in. So if they come here, it may be closer for those who travel to get to the store and the Boro Parkers will have it in their backyard. About Boro Parkers being more price conscious, maybe with food but not when it comes to such as clothing!!!!
June 2, 2011 4:43 am at 4:43 am #804793aries2756ParticipantIts NOT Pomegranite, its Gourmet Glatt aka Kosher.com.
June 2, 2011 12:42 pm at 12:42 pm #804794OfcourseMemberSeems like no one knows for sure (except for the owners of the property) who’s coming there and when. A while back I heard that BP Foodmart, the 24 hour store on 13th & 45th, would be opening there as a second location. Now Im hearing about Pomegranate or Glatt Mart.
August 31, 2011 6:59 pm at 6:59 pm #804795OfcourseMemberThree months later and no signs of life. Whats going on?
August 31, 2011 7:55 pm at 7:55 pm #804797OfcourseMemberTomche, how many pizza shops on 13th avenue? How many kosher bakeries? How many clothing stores? How many BANKS ;?0 How many pharmacies? How many linen stores? How many Shuls? Should I go on?
Friedmans used to have items that Kollel doesnt.
August 31, 2011 9:21 pm at 9:21 pm #804800GumBallMemberthe manager is my relative, i think hes opening a store in the 5 towns i dont know if someone is taking over?
August 31, 2011 9:52 pm at 9:52 pm #804801OfcourseMemberMay I ask why Tomche got/wanted his post removed? It was harmless.
September 1, 2011 1:32 pm at 1:32 pm #804803mewhoParticipantseasons on Main Street is open . I have gone there. It’s lovely.
Like a smaller version of Pomegranet. They even offer valet parking.
Also, Kollel store is very accomodating. Not as fancy looking but accommodating and ahs fresh food and I think best prices of the bunch coz they are not quite as fancy.
September 1, 2011 4:53 pm at 4:53 pm #804804OfcourseMemberFriedman had two tone Challahs, whole spelt pasta, etc. Just two items I can think of right now.
September 1, 2011 4:55 pm at 4:55 pm #804805Will RogersMemberNo one else has it?
Even if they reopen the new store might not carry it anyways.
September 1, 2011 7:55 pm at 7:55 pm #804806HaLeiViParticipantFriedman’s had many versions of item that no one else carried. I mean, who else had maple honey?
September 2, 2011 5:41 am at 5:41 am #804807OfcourseMemberWR Even if they reopen the new store might not carry it anyways.
Yes, but as big as KRM is, and I love shopping there, there are lots of things they never carry. Having another store nearby wont hurt.
September 2, 2011 7:15 am at 7:15 am #804808WIYMemberI think another store that would be cheaper than KRM would be great we need competition to drive the prices down!
I know wishful thinking. They’ll all keep ripping us off until we are broke.
September 2, 2011 3:13 pm at 3:13 pm #804809Flatbush DudeMemberIt may never. Who knows.
