I have recently been hearing the term “minyan factory” being used and was curious if anyone could define what a “minyan factory” is.
A minyan factory is a place that has almost constant minyanim throughout the day starting from shachris untill maariv.
Many chassideshe batei medrashem are basically minyen factorys but some examples of minyen factories are are:
Shomer Shabbes in boro park
Landaus in flatbush
Sheiners in monsey
Hachaim Vshalom in the 5 towns
and then of course in Erets Yisroel therse many such as “shteeblech”.Its a shul with multiple daily minyanim for all tefillos around the clock.
just as a factory has merchandise or products that are constantly being made, a minyan factory is a place where minyanim are happening one after the next all day.

just to name a fewIn general, a shul whos purpose is mainly to churn out many minyanim with several room.
The type of place where you just KNOW there will be a minyan, versus your local shul that probably has 1 7:00 shacris. Or maybe has even 3 shacrisim and only 1 room.Not all are equal to be clear.
The classic original infamous ‘shomer shabbos’ in Boro Park has Shacris Mincha Maariv all overlapping with each other thoughout the day.
Then you have Landau’s where you wont have overlapping, but odds are if you show up at a normal time for that Tefillah, you’ll have a minyan starting within the next few minutes.
Then you might have the ‘Minyan Factory Juniors’ that churn out Shacrisim, but only have a few Mincha Maarivs.A minyan factory is a shul that does not NECESSARILY serve a perticular Kehilla, or even if it officialy does, due to it’s facilities (i.e. mikva etc), size or location, it serves all members of that city/town etc.
More than anything though, usually, is the sheer amount of minyanim happening in that one shul, many times not having a strict timing as in start times for minyanim, rather one starting as soon as the last finishes.A shul that has numerous minyanim for every tefillah. Typically like the next one starts as soon as the previous one finishes. Thus, the constant stream of minyanim are like they are rolling off a factory assembly line.
Tzadikim who come to the factory would start with earlier minyan and then gradually go to the next one and next one, finishing several hours later

How can you refer to the holy Shomer Shabbos shul of Boro Park as infamous?
It’s rightly famous. There are many shiurim, massive amounts of tzedakah and chesed performed there every day. There are minyanim saying the whole tehilim on Shabbos night. There are multiple minyanim for YK Kotton every month, including several where they lein v’ychal.
There are minhogim yeshonim that are perpetuated there. Which is all built on the basis of its establishment when so many unfortunately went to work after davening on Shabbos and this shul was established by those who remained steadfastly shomerei Shabbos.

I doubt it was on purpose.I like to describe a minyan factory as a shul that’s a factory of endless chesed. A shul where there is no “I” rather its us. They are generally places that care about jews from all walks of life. Take the Shomer Shabbos shul, it not only has minyanim for the kehila when its needed but it also caters to all different minhagim. There are minyanim for rabbani tam accoding to many shitas, krias hatorah at 4PM for those that couldn’t hear it earlier, minyan ethlim thursady night, minyan for Bhab, YM kotton for those and for those not fasting. Its doesn’t have signs disinviting people who aren’t dressed a ceratin way. All are welcome. And this why there is also a free soup kitchen with lots of food, collections for the poor of all walks of life, rides to all over the world for those that need etc. Basically, its what being real chasdish means as the Besht wanted. A place that cares and welcomes all jews from all walks of life. (schiners is similar). “minyan factories” are one of the most holiest special places around.

indeed, if you are reading it the Hebrew way – a subject followed by an adjective.
As I noted in my above comment, I suspect many here are being cynical. In reality minyan factories are one of the holiest most chashuva shuls around. They are selfless people who just give and give to other jews no matter who they are. And anyone who tries to open one up for money or fame quikcly shuts it down. Its not a money maker and its a huge undertaking. And there is a need for more of them.
How do out of towners manage without a minyan factory?
OOTers have whatsup and text groups that count from 1 to 10 (or from 10 to 1) nightly. Some of these are for dwindling minyanim, others for convenient times, others for vacation periods.

OOT it is often a struggle to get a minyan each day for Schacharis and Mincha/Maariv.
There are usually not enough frum people around during the day for multiple minyanim in a shul.@ujm Whats out of town? Baltimore has Eichenstiens, Chicago & Cleveland I believe have their own too.
R Berel Wein says that if there are 100 Yidden in town, Hashem wants to see one shul with 100 people. Yidden open 10 shuls with 10 people and end up with 11 shuls and 9 people. Well, 100 people makes it OOT …
