What do people here do on Purim?
What are the highlights?
How do we make the most of it?

February 21, 2012 5:43 pm at 5:43 pm #856406BaalHaboozeParticipantbetween the boozing and snoozing I try:
1)to say some tehillim and learn some gemorrah,
2)enjoy the Yom Tov, and make sure my wife & all my kids enjoy it too.
3)daven shacharis very early, deliver our friends’ shalach monos early in the morn BEFORE the traffic, and leave it on their doorsteps.
4) P-A-R-T-why? because I Gatta!!!!

“Kol haposhet yad nosnim lo”
I saw it brought down in a sefer, though not sure which one (perhaps Rav Pincus?) that just like if someone asks- poshet yad- to us, nosnim lo- we (are mechuyav to) give
so too
Kol Haposhet Yad to Hashem, HK”BH says, Nosnim lo!
what this really means, I don’t think I’m on the level to understand…
February 21, 2012 11:29 pm at 11:29 pm #856409ambushParticipantone more thing, I’m pretty sure it’s the same sefer (don’t quote me on that one!:)) that continues and says a story of a man, a total shikur, who for some reason was given the koach of Bracha, and when asked- such koach to such a man?
The {Tzaddik, Rebbe…} answered that this man was given a this koach habracha and thus lives at the edge of the village and is completely drunk all the time to, so to speak, hide his outstanding koach.
He ties it into Purim- the “Ad Delo Yaddah” sort of covers up our true koach of the day! Use it! Don’t squander it!
any if anyone can correct me on the story, mashal, nimshal, source, it would be much appreciated!
February 28, 2012 11:29 pm at 11:29 pm #856410ambushParticipantjust want to correct myself-
It was actually from the Chidushei HaRim who used to say this story
February 29, 2012 12:41 am at 12:41 am #856411skiaddictMemberSaying tehilim on Purim is very powerful.

Davening Shachris at sunrise.
Giving Tzedakah to everyone that asks without questioning them.
February 29, 2012 12:29 pm at 12:29 pm #856413The Best BubbyParticipantZeesKite: You asked what special segulas are there for Purim.
Say the whole sefer Tehillim after chatzot laila (find out your local time) on Purim night after the first laining of the Megilla, with one bakasha (anyone you feel is important!) This will take approximately 2 1/2 – 3 hours!
Give zedaka beseser.
Read through a different thread from the beginning: Shidduch Segula – one I have not seen before. It is very interesting!!
Behatzlacha!
