What time do you daven every morning? If you didn’t have to get up early what time would you daven? How about mincha and mariv?
November 1, 2011 3:11 pm at 3:11 pm #823095miritchkaMemberhmmmm..this topic should be interesting. I would love it if my husband would be one of the first ten…i wont hold my breath…
November 1, 2011 3:17 pm at 3:17 pm #823096ZosHaTorahParticipant6:40 Shacharis, although we’re davening at 6:45 this week (putting on tallis and tefillin at Yishtabach). When the time changes this Sunday, we’ll move it back to 6:40 again.
I like this time for davening. We have a shul gamara shiur at 6am every day. I find that helps my kevanah for davening.
Minchas is 20 minutes before shkia. Then we learn for 15 minutes, then Maariv. I repeat 3 paragraphs of shema before I go to sleep each night.
November 1, 2011 3:19 pm at 3:19 pm #823097AstrixParticipantin the morning between 8-11…maariv could be from 6 till 4 am..who knows.
November 1, 2011 3:20 pm at 3:20 pm #823098JotharMemberI daven [redacted] at [redacted]. If you see me there, stop by and say hello!
November 1, 2011 3:28 pm at 3:28 pm #823099Charles ShortMemberIf there is no Minyan peer pressure it may be more difficult to be consistent. I woke up for Tikkun Chatzot today but then went back to sleep and ending up late for a dilligent Shacharis at sunrise.
November 1, 2011 3:29 pm at 3:29 pm #823100BTGuyParticipantHi onegoal. If I dont have to work until six, then I catch a Mincha/Maariv at 5:45pm. Otherwise, I catch Maariv at 7pm. I hope you are not mining for information with such a “phishy” question, because I would be the guy with the black pants, white shirt, black shoes, and velvet kippa. Should I worry??? lol

I just thought of something BTguy. If you are truly so unconcerned about personal info being leaked here, why don’t you prove how unharmful it is by posting not just the black pants and white shirt bit, but your real name, address and phone number here. What harm can come of it? 🙂
November 1, 2011 3:36 pm at 3:36 pm #823102✡onegoal™ParticipantCharlie brown- Maybe he did and it got edited.
BTGuy- Actually I am a certified phisher, certified by the Phishing Academy of Nigeria. Thank you for the information, I will now track you down and and throw you at the chazzan who goes to slow and steal you siddur because I’m too lazy to go to the bookshelf and get one myself.
November 1, 2011 3:40 pm at 3:40 pm #823103akupermaParticipantWhen I don’t have a choice, I put on tefillin a few minutes after alos ha-shahar, and then daven without tefillin on the train around netz. I have a good job (no yiddishkeit conflicts, good pay, fun work) and live in a makom Torah, but unfortunately not in the same city.
November 1, 2011 3:41 pm at 3:41 pm #823104☕️coffee addictParticipantIt depends sometimes 7 sometimes 6:40
when I have my day off I daven at 7:45
Mincha/Mariv depends on the day
November 1, 2011 3:48 pm at 3:48 pm #823105BTGuyParticipantcharlie brown. With all due respect, this is getting ridiculous. I now understand there was a real problem. Still, that does not mean I enjoy the threads of each topic being interrupted by the possibility of “they sky is falling”.
If someone suspects something, there should be a direct email to make a report. It should not be a public interruption to an otherwise pleasant coffee room setting.
In answer to your query: Taking an extreme and exaggerated point to mitigate a different point can be enlightening. But I dont think it applies here. Things are done in degrees and we both are comfortable posting but dont want to give out our SS numbers here. That does not mean a self-appointed vigilante is either necessary or should interrupt other people. I have read countless interruptive posts from them and have not seen one suspicion have any merit. Its not worth creating arguments over. That is not my goal at all. I pretty much said all I have to say on this topic. Everyone does have a right to post their sincere thoughts. I took my position when I saw some people had their toes stepped on. Enough.. I am bored with it.
November 1, 2011 3:51 pm at 3:51 pm #823106JotharMemberCharles, do you do both Tikkun Leah and Tikkun Rochel?
BTGuy, I second Charlie Brown’s assertion. Please post your full info here and prove to us that there is no concern.
I sometimes daven by O and 19- if you see me say hello!
November 1, 2011 4:15 pm at 4:15 pm #823107BTGuyParticipantonegoal. lol
Jothar, that is rather a blunt request that does not serve to support “Chicken Little” behavior which should be handled professionally and not within other peoples’ conversational threads. You have solved no crimes but ruffled some feathers in the process, is all. But I appreciate your ebullience.
Jothar, this is progressing from a difference of outlook and opinion into something else, and I dont want to do that. You are my brother. You are a good person. You learn more than I do and I am grateful you are supporting the world spiritually, and I have love for you. I am off the internet security topic.
November 1, 2011 4:24 pm at 4:24 pm #823108charlie brownMemberBTGuy,
It should not be a public interruption to an otherwise pleasant coffee room setting.
If kids are accidentally giving their identities away, its not a pleasant setting. If someone’s house is burning down do you quietly call the fire department in a whisper so as not to disturb the neighbors?
I have read countless interruptive posts from them and have not seen one suspicion have any merit.
I have seen many with merit. And apparently many other posters have also. You are in the minority here.

Mods, do you want help from Jothar et al or is BTGuy correct that you’d prefer he leave you alone?
Its not worth creating arguments over. That is not my goal at all. I pretty much said all I have to say on this topic. Everyone does have a right to post their sincere thoughts. I took my position when I saw some people had their toes stepped on.
I agree that everyone has a right to express their opinion and did not in any way mean this as an attack against you personally. Its just a friendly disagreement.
but dont want to give out our SS numbers here
hey, I didn’t go that far! I said name, address and phone number! 🙂
Enough.. I am bored with it.
Let’s see if you can hold yourself back from responding! 🙂

I’ve been criticizing posts of yours which I disagree with so I have to compliment for this great post! I am impressed.
November 1, 2011 4:48 pm at 4:48 pm #823110charlie brownMemberbtw, I didn’t comment on your first paragraph of that post because I have no idea what chicken little behavior and ebullience are. If I did, I may have had something positive to say about that part too. 🙂
I hope I’m not the only one who doesn’t know what these terms mean. If I am, I’ve just blown my identity. Oy.
November 1, 2011 4:51 pm at 4:51 pm #823111Sam2ParticipantAkuperma: You should be very careful. The earliest Zman for Tallis and Tefillin is Misheyakir, which we assume is more than just a few minutes after Chatzos (well, I don’t, but standard Chumra-ordaining Zmanim websites do). You should ask a Shaila (if you haven’t already) to make sure that you can wear Tefillin at a time when you will be Yotzei.
November 1, 2011 4:55 pm at 4:55 pm #823112JotharMemberCharlie Brown, thank you for the words of encouragement. BTGuy, thank you for the kind words. I will try to learn more torah to live up to your words.
November 1, 2011 5:33 pm at 5:33 pm #823113BTGuyParticipantOk, charlie brown, you had your say. You made some good and insightful points.
November 1, 2011 7:48 pm at 7:48 pm #823114🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantIt just figures I go to a davening thread and find it full of side conversations.
November 1, 2011 8:22 pm at 8:22 pm #823115Charles ShortMemberJothar,
I keep the Avraham Greenbaum “sweetest hour” book at my beside and it directs that Tikkun Rochel is “only recited on days when Tachanun is said.” Sometimes I wake up spontaneously during the midnight watch and figure I have nothing better to do than to recite the Tikkun, but this practice is irregular and an infrequent occurrence and not a habit.
November 1, 2011 9:18 pm at 9:18 pm #823116JotharMemberSyag, lolz!
November 1, 2011 10:41 pm at 10:41 pm #823117yentingyentaParticipantthere are days i start davening at 6:05 AM when i get on the train to school.
November 2, 2011 4:21 am at 4:21 am #823118HaLeiViParticipantI daven by Kalos Hashachar.
