I want to know if someone out there could help me out. I’m in high school and learning bava kama b’iyun. what should i learn during my spare time? Is it important that i finish the masechta b’kiyus or is it more important that i learn a different perek b’iyun and not finish the masechta?

I’m going to advise you to finish the Mesechta. There are alot of Gemaras in Bava Kama that will be useful yedios as you progress in your future learning. Also, learning b’iyun in youre ‘spare time’ is not as easy as it may sound, and may not prove to be so productive! Hatzlocha, and Gemar Chasima Tovah!

Much more important to finish mesechta bkius. You need the yedios. Just read that Rav Shach advised the same thing. People who only learn b’iyun, after an entire year will complete only a handful of dapim, and then start to get depressed over how little they covered, and will forget even the little they learned. Finish the masechta b’kiyus…
bekios.. avodah zarah 19a 5th wide line rava, brochos 63b middle wide lines.rashi both places..1st learn a lot of bekius then you’ll already understand a lot of your sfeikos
depends on who you are and what you need
yedios, yedios, yedios. Do the rest of the mesechta bekius, no doubt.I also suggest learning the mishnayos of the whole mesechta before you start. It gives you a big picture of what is to follow and puts every perek in an understandable framework. Behatzlachah!!
How about Halacha? Or Chumesh (shnaim mikra doesnt count)? These areas are unfortunatley neglected nowadays, so if you feel that you are covering suffient ground in bekius (and are continiously chazering it) and that you are doing well in iyun, you might want to to spend your free time learning other things.

…which is why i am suggesting it. don’t assume that everyone who learns in yeshiva knows halacha….
ok,ok didnt mean any harm..from where we come from thats elementary. our holy rebbe gave shiur in shulchen urech we had to learn with tor/bais yoseph..
in the time you ask all these questions you counl’ve finnshed the mesachte..learn mesachtes brochos bein hazmanim..
great question maybe what ever gives you more of a geshmak in learning …. but i am not your rebbe

however a shtickle ameilus (even more in the ninth perek) does pay off alot.

It always bothered me, shor shenagach daled vhei, efsher I can hear a shor was nogeach one or maybe two, even three I could hear, but daled vhei is just too much. What does he have to do it for?
Well, if you’re not allowed to kill animals, and you’re certainly not allowed to give them ritalin (as it has been tested on humans and shown to have detrimental effects), then what do you expect will happen with a wild shor?
Torah is the besta sechoira.
