Red wine with at least one meal a day?
September 10, 2016 9:05 pm at 9:05 pm #1184499Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantPersonally, wine every day sounds like a lot to me! (but I don’t know what nutritionists say).
Doesn’t it depend on your age? I think the Rambam says something about its being healthy when you’re older (don’t know what age that would be.)
September 11, 2016 1:56 am at 1:56 am #1184500👑RebYidd23ParticipantOne small glass of red wine in the evening.
September 29, 2016 5:24 pm at 5:24 pm #1184501a talmud haboreiParticipantIn my experience, the Neshama has a strong affinity for bourbon.
September 29, 2016 6:27 pm at 6:27 pm #1184502apushatayidParticipantMine has an affinity for Coke Zero.
September 29, 2016 7:15 pm at 7:15 pm #1184503hujuParticipantThis is a question for doctors and nutritionists, and what’s right for one person is not right for someone else. So all of us Coffee Roomers (a/k/a yentas) should shut up. Let me be the first.
September 29, 2016 8:10 pm at 8:10 pm #1184504a talmud haboreiParticipantHuju, the coffee room is a safe place for yidden to share their advice, however satirical it may be. I am sure that if Joseph had a serious medical dilemma he would certainly have asked Dr. Google instead. Let’s try to keep things positive?
Much appreciated =)
September 29, 2016 9:17 pm at 9:17 pm #1184505hujuParticipantTo a talmud haborei: Ok, I’ll be a yenta.
I am not a doctor, not a nutritionist, but I once heard a doctor say 4 ounces of whiskey, or equivalent amounts of wine or beer, are advisable for men over 40, once a day, 7 days a week. And I know someone who followed that advice, was a heavy smoker, and died in his 80’s of a non-cardio-vascular illness. So I guess that proves it. Joseph, have another glass of wine.
September 30, 2016 3:08 am at 3:08 am #1184506SparklyMemberalcohol is a type of drug so the answer is NONE.
September 30, 2016 3:10 am at 3:10 am #1184507Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantAPY – Pepsi Max has more caffeine. It has the most caffeine of any soda.
September 30, 2016 3:13 am at 3:13 am #1184508👑RebYidd23ParticipantIf its being a type of drug means none should be taken, I’d better stop drinking coffee, eating chocolate and taking medicine for headaches.
September 30, 2016 5:00 am at 5:00 am #1184509Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantNo, not CHOCOLATE!!
September 30, 2016 5:02 am at 5:02 am #1184510Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantHuju – my grandfather, a”h, was a heavy smoker and he did NOT drink wine (to my knowledge) and he died in his 80’s. So I guess that proves you wrong! It must be the smoking that provides long life and not the drinking.
September 30, 2016 2:26 pm at 2:26 pm #1184511a talmud haboreiParticipantThank you huju, I really appreciated that
And if we’re broaching the topic of drugs here, then I’d like to recommend trying some oxygen – I personally can’t get enough of it.
September 30, 2016 3:15 pm at 3:15 pm #1184512RedlegParticipantAccording to the Dept. of Nutrition, Harvard School of Public Health, review of Moderate Alcohol Consumption, moderate alcohol consumption has been observed to beneficially modulate several diseases including cardio-vascular disease, Type 2 diabetes among others.
“Moderate alcohol consumption” is defined as: Two 1 1/2 oz shots of 80 proof spirits, or two 5oz glasses of wine or two 12oz servings of beer daily for women the amount listed for men is halved, I.E. one shot, one glass, one serving daily
