i was very surprised and dissapointed to see on dansdeals.com, people admitting and signing up as different accounts to snapfish so they can get 50 free prints! someone admitted he signed up so many times he got over 350 prints! is this stealing!? what is going on?

It is called stealing IF snapfish says it is not allowed. Why dont you ask them if you are allowed to sign up under 12 different email addresses to take advantage of their offer 12 times.

    apushatayid-

I agree- if they didn’t want people to do that they would send a unique code that only works once.

Did anyone read the terms and conditions of the coupons? Usually it says something like one per person or one per household. Just because the system allows it makes it ok?

[In theory, I havent actually read these T&C]

Business ethics is called Toeva in the Torah, but people seem to ignore that.

I don’t know WHAT snapfish thinks. They do send a code that works once, per email address 🙂

They are not in the business, I don’t think of tracking the IP address of everyone who logs onto or creates an account on their site.

    rebbitzen:

Do you really assume that business executives are that dumb????

    Come on now!

They know gantz fein what’s happening, but the residual business given to the company by these chevramen makes it worthwhile.

One does not have to assume that if you use various email addresses, you can beat the system. That is sneaky and not b’derech hatevah. Not what a company would expect one to do.

If you are asking what happened to honesty it is is a lost art, and not something that is practiced or coveted by some.

Possible concerns I see with opening multiple email accounts for the purpose of receiving multiple free offers are:

    – genaivas da’as. is this intentionally deceiving the company?

    – genaiva. is this taking something that doesn’t belong to you and that you’re not entitled to?

    – chilul H-shem. what kind of impression does it make when obviously frum people are posting this tactic?

    I called Snapfish and asked:

    1) Q: Is this offer and other offers like it restricted to one per household, or can my wife and I each receive the special on our own email account?

    A: We are both eligible.

    2) Q: If I have two or more email accounts, is each one eligible for the special?

    A: Yes.

I didn’t ask about a huge number of email accounts set up only to get hundreds or thousands of prints.

Also, this still just doesn’t “feel” quite right to me – I’d probably still ask a shaila.

Nonetheless, for those interested on the company’s position (or at least the position as relayed by the CSR from India who I spoke to), this is it.

I posted a similar question in regards to the Amazon diaper sale HERE

I never understood this theory that if playing shtick with the system is possible, it means it’s OK. If they say don’t do it, it means don’t do it, whether you technically can or not!

Note: this is not to say that snapfish necessarily says this isn’t allowed, as ICOT showed. Although I somehow doubt this is what they had in mind…

It is always surprising to see that people forget who is really in charge and how everything we do is recorded and remembered. Hashem did not give us brains to figure out how to beat the system!
