How have you spent the last few days of your life in the blizzard? A brief run down would be appreciated.
December 29, 2010 4:25 am at 4:25 am #726886TheGoqParticipantmy work is a 5 minute walk from home i went to work
December 29, 2010 5:31 am at 5:31 am #726887cofeefanMemberi baked sooooo much!! blondie brownies, choc chip cookies, a chocolate cake, peanut butter balls and even some crinkle cookies… don’t ask what i’m doing with it all…..
December 29, 2010 7:09 am at 7:09 am #726888smartcookieMemberCofeefan- and you shared nothing with us?? 🙁
I was indoors indoors indoors trying to entertain my school-less kids…
December 29, 2010 4:27 pm at 4:27 pm #726889bptParticipantI went to my parents for lunch on Monday. I dressed for the weather, took my time getting there, and really enjoyed the snow before it turned to a grey, slusshy mess.
Tuesday was back to work (waah!)
December 29, 2010 5:42 pm at 5:42 pm #726890shimmelMemberAfter cooking and baking on sunday, By monday i needed some fresh air.. Yes snow or no snow i was out…Got dressed and walked a couple of blocks! I must say i enjoyed it immensly. By tuesday i was back at work!! (and i was also a bit glad to be back)
December 29, 2010 5:55 pm at 5:55 pm #726891blinkyParticipantMonday- I shoveled and had snowball fights in the morning….and later went for a nice walk. And there was no stopping for red lights, we just walked straight for like 20 blocks!
Tuesday- Back to work
December 29, 2010 5:59 pm at 5:59 pm #726892not IMemberWorked on Sun, Mon, Tuesday..
Ususally what is a four min walk turned out to be a ten minute work out! Muscles never used let me know all about it!
December 29, 2010 5:59 pm at 5:59 pm #726893charliehallParticipantI shoveled myself out and went to work.
December 29, 2010 6:12 pm at 6:12 pm #726894dunnoMemberTheGoq
You are 5 minutes from work?? Man, I’m jealous!
December 29, 2010 6:16 pm at 6:16 pm #726895duvdlParticipantWe only got a couple of inches – kids played outside for a little bit. And we went shopping.
December 29, 2010 6:24 pm at 6:24 pm #726896bptParticipant“I shoveled and had snowball fights in the morning….and later went for a nice walk”
Your “shidduch market value” just went up 500%, Blinky. All we need now, is a sample of your potato kugel, and we can check off all the boxes!
December 29, 2010 6:33 pm at 6:33 pm #726897blinkyParticipantYour “shidduch market value” just went up 500%
Whew! thats good to know, i thought just the opposite! For the record im an expert snowball thrower…lol
December 29, 2010 7:44 pm at 7:44 pm #726898bptParticipantOh, so THATS who nailed me on Monday 🙁
Just the opposite? Not in my world. If you don’t love the outdoors, its gonna be a real tough adjustment joining our family.
Let me guess, you roller-blade /ice skate too, right?
December 29, 2010 8:33 pm at 8:33 pm #726899blinkyParticipantWell i used to roller blade, and ice skating was for special occasions but i can’t remember the last time i touched either of those, but i like the outside and the cold- its so refreshing during the winter!
December 29, 2010 8:46 pm at 8:46 pm #726900bptParticipant“but i can’t remember the last time i touched either of those”
Still, should a date suggest Rockefeller Center or Chelsa Piers, its nice to know you can say yes!
December 29, 2010 8:49 pm at 8:49 pm #726901Trying my bestMemberWoha! Saying “yes” so quick? Just for suggesting a date? He might not have the ring yet…
December 29, 2010 9:03 pm at 9:03 pm #726902bptParticipantI meant, saying “yes” to the skating suggestion, but I like your way of thinking, TMB!
January 11, 2011 6:42 pm at 6:42 pm #726903blinkyParticipantSo whose going to join my snowball fight tomorrow???? Everybody gotta think of ideas to keep yourself busy…
January 11, 2011 6:55 pm at 6:55 pm #726904bptParticipantI’m pretty sure I’ll have work tomorow. I think the city will do its utmost to clean the train lines / major roads to take some of the heat off of last month’s fiasco
Unless you work for a school (which, if you’re so taking a snow day as a forgone conclusion, most likley is the case), be prepared for business as usual.
So, Blinky, what grade do you have?
January 11, 2011 6:55 pm at 6:55 pm #726905enlightenedjewMemberWork, work, work (remotely, can’t get into office).
January 11, 2011 6:58 pm at 6:58 pm #726906blinkyParticipantIt doesn’t have to be during work hours you know…
January 11, 2011 7:05 pm at 7:05 pm #726907bptParticipantYou’re avoiding the question, but that’s ok 😀
By the time I get back to BP, the snow will be a grey, slushy mess, so I don’t think I can join in round 2.
January 11, 2011 7:07 pm at 7:07 pm #726908mewhoParticipantstart cleaning for pesach
January 11, 2011 7:39 pm at 7:39 pm #726909NonsenseMemberDuring the blzzard I posted away on all posts.
January 11, 2011 9:32 pm at 9:32 pm #726910bein_hasdorimParticipantI sit at the window with a hot cocoa, toasty slippers,
pointing and laughing at the view.
j/k I don’t point that would be impolite.
January 11, 2011 9:45 pm at 9:45 pm #726911crdleMemberBlinky- ur a girl right?
BP – didn’t u say once that you work from home?
Last blizzard- i went out twice a day to check on the progress with my car, each time i would shovel a little. I watched a million movies, and caught up on all my shows, was bored to death, and more than happy to go back to work, only on Thursday!!!!! was pathetic!
January 11, 2011 11:11 pm at 11:11 pm #726912bptParticipant“BP – didn’t u say once that you work from home?”
No. In fact, I can’t even log in from home. If I’m not here in the office, I’m not in the CR.
January 11, 2011 11:23 pm at 11:23 pm #726913frumladygitMemberClean the house immaculately. Make sure the kitchen is well stocked. Cook the most gourmet healthy hardy winter soups. Start knitting, and reading books to the kids, and share old photos with the family, remembering the memories.
January 12, 2011 12:47 am at 12:47 am #726914ImaofthreeParticipantsnow days are great days to make calls for shidduchim (cause everyone is home). Cleaning, laundry, baking, cooking, and spring cleaning a little early!
January 12, 2011 5:33 am at 5:33 am #726915oomisParticipantDid some shoveling. Gave up after three shovelsful. Tried again. Went back inside and made LOTS of hot cocoa (from scratch, btw), telling myself I had EARNED it. Started to go out to try to shovel again, then reminded myself I am not 15 anymore (or even 35) and that the snow really isn’t THAT bad, and it’s really pretty…Decided to take a nap instead.
January 12, 2011 5:55 am at 5:55 am #726916cshapiroMemberas long as the trains are running i gotta go into the office…3 inches or 10 feet….
