Some people have a heavy fleishig meal. Some believe in a light cereal or toast etc which is what doctors recommend. I’m sure plenty break it on a schnapps or a coffee.
Whats your favorite ta’anis-busting meal?? (Please indicate your gender and approx general age group).

March 18, 2011 2:15 am at 2:15 am #796568🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantAlways orange juice. For years it was drunk with a peanut butter and fluff sandwich, now it’s whatever the kids ask for.
March 18, 2011 2:20 am at 2:20 am #796569s2021MemberI was just thinkin of this question as I threw out the emptied carton of Orange Juice from my kitchen table.. Why do so many ppl break ther fasts on OJ? My fam doesnt even buy it regularly..
Whoever broke ther fast on OJ (including me) do u drink it regularly? I dont, but for some reason Im always in the mood after a fast. What is it- the sugar?
March 18, 2011 2:20 am at 2:20 am #796570WolfishMusingsParticipantDon’t know… I’m still fasting (10:20PM). I’m too lazy and tired to actually get up and get myself something to eat.

i brake it on a medium rare rib eye steak and wash it down with a beer or two
March 18, 2011 2:51 am at 2:51 am #796576LemonySnicketParticipantLemons and Snickers bars. But seriously, toast and tomato soup and an ice cold glass of OJ. After a long fast though some gatorade or powerade does wonders for me cause it rehydrates.
March 18, 2011 3:20 am at 3:20 am #796577deiyezoogerMemberToast, scrambled eggs and coffee.
March 18, 2011 3:26 am at 3:26 am #796578pumperMemberI don’t usually drink orange juice (too many calories…) but it is the best thing to break a fast on. Its sugary and sweet, and after the first sip, you almost forget that you fasted the whole day. It’s good because its not fizzy like soda, and it tastes more natural also!
March 18, 2011 5:17 am at 5:17 am #796579passion4musicMemberHalf the things u guys wouldn’t know but- baked ziti, mini pizzas, samboosaks, borekas, mijredeh, spanach, cuseh. Calsones, penne ala vodaka, mashed potatoes, salad, vegetable soup, maccaroni, cescasoun

March 18, 2011 9:37 am at 9:37 am #796583Derech HaMelechMemberOh, P4M, I see you like to eat light.
I think people drink OJ because its not a complex sugar so it gives you a boost right away while you digest your starches and carbs. That’s my guess as a non-professional
March 18, 2011 12:24 pm at 12:24 pm #796584ShrekParticipantcoffee. 3 Advil. anything after that is dessert.
March 18, 2011 12:26 pm at 12:26 pm #796585A Woman Outside BrooklynParticipantA cup of coffee. Even instant will get rid of the headache that often accompanies a fast. Then lasagna and cheesecake, the latter because it’s light. The rest of the family include OJ in their break fast.
March 18, 2011 1:23 pm at 1:23 pm #796586always hereParticipantdefinitely a coffee. sometimes oj. last night: rye toast w/ muenster cheese. after tisha b’av in the country: potato soup. otherwise, it’s whatever I can get my hands on (no fleishigs, tho’),

March 21, 2011 8:24 pm at 8:24 pm #796593Shticky GuyParticipantIt was gr8 this year not to go into purim starving. Megilla on Purim nite was so much more enjoyable, and I made noises only for homon whereas normally I have loud stomach rumbles all the way thru! This year by megilla I had just about finished eating shalesheedis.
After taanis esther I always break my fast on a few Drambuies. Ice cold. Reaches parts other drinks dont know exist!!

Not bad for a Non-professional; but the professional reason is because it has potassium!

August 10, 2011 11:53 pm at 11:53 pm #796597Shticky GuyParticipantI couldnt bring myself to drink a fresh orange juice. Too acidic. I settled for apple juice. Easier on the stomach. With fresh rogalach! Yum. Then main but not heavy meal a little later (with a decaffeinated coffee of course).
