I lost 20 pounds over the last 2 months by watching what I ate (a very minimum amount of carbs (a drop every day, and plenty on shabbos) and I fell great. I would like to lose another 20 pounds over the next 2 months. Any good tips, Encouragement would be great as well.I know it won’t be easy but considering I need to lose a lot more weight…I’m trying,

Also, if you have been working out 3x a week for the last two months, increase it to 4x a week for the next month for better results. What kind of exercise have you been doing?
May 11, 2011 4:03 pm at 4:03 pm #766235BSDMemberDrink a lot of green tea(no sugar) Eat a lot of veggies. Don’t let more than 4-5 hours lapse between meals. When you are hungry, you make bad decisions. And of course there’s the mint chips…:)

Actually, the more weight you have to loose the faster it comes off in the beginning. So the first 20 melt off, but the second 20 take much harder dieting and exercise to get rid of.

The first two weeks a person does lose weight the fastest, however after those first 15-20 lbs come off, some people are so proud of their accomplishment. This leads to more motivation and easier more consistent weight loss. I said in my post that it gets easier (because the dieter knows he/she can do it)….not faster.
May 11, 2011 11:30 pm at 11:30 pm #766238aries2756ParticipantOnce you are off the carbs your body doesn’t crave the carbs as much so keep it up. Eat more fruits and vegetables especially for snacks. Change up your exercise routine so it doesn’t get boring and also pump it up a bit. Add some weights while you are walking or speed it up a bit. Also don’t be discouraged if you don’t see many changes on the scale as long as you feel it in the way your clothing fits and in your energy levels. In many cases you are gaining muscle as you lose fat so that might show as a wash on the scale. When you lose a lot of weight on the scale that could be water loss or muscle loss. That is not what you are looking for, you are looking for fat loss. So the scale is NOT the definitive judge of how you are doing. Try not to weigh yourself too often, just keep eating right and exercising. It is best to eat six small meals a day than 3 large ones and the most important is to eat protein within an hour of waking up in the morning in order to fuel your metabolism and kick it into fat burning mode.

I don’t know, for me the beginning is always the easiest- that is when the motivation is there, the pounds are flying off… its as the weeks go by, and the numbers on the scale stay the same that it becomes so much more difficult to stay on track. At least that is my experience.

First of all, Congradulations! Losing weight (and keeping it off) is lots of hard work. Good for you!
You seem to have the right attitude and right methods. The only thing I would add is try to only eat things you make from scratch, and if you need to eat prepared food, aim for things made with 5 ingredients or less. That should keep your options wide enought that you don’t starve, yet not get you into trouble.
And again, congrats!
May 12, 2011 11:23 pm at 11:23 pm #766242yummy cupcakeMembermaybe someone here can help me out! i am not overweight at all (baruch Hashem times a million!), which is why i am not motivated at all to start eating less of what i do eat, and to start eating healthier. i must admit my hips and my thighs (and bottom) are what i want to lose weight in, and they are not big, i don’t give off a big look at all, but some things i wear would look better if i would lose a little. i am a very big fleishig person, i would eat it breakfast lunch and supper and for snack in between if i could! my milchig meals consist of pizza and pizza and pizza and very rarely mac and cheese. i recently stopped red meats, just for cholesterol reasons (B”H i don’t have bad levels, i just wanted to prevent it) any ideas how to get myself motivated?
