One item which has been on my mind this past week, and shall be on my mind for 1 more week:- We all know as per Mishnah in Berochos, that we don’t commence requesting vSein Tal uMotor until marCheshvon 7th, thus giving Olei leRegel Sukkos 2 weeks to return home in dry weather.
By this logical thinking, why don’t we cease requesting vSein Tal uMotor 2 weeks before Pesach, say on Erev Rosh Chodesh Nisson [Adar Sheni 29th], so that Olei le Regel hag haMatzos, can travel to Yerusholayim in dry weather?
Hmm. Very good question. I do not have an immediate answer but will see what I can find out should nobody else beat me to it. Is it anything to do with the fact that we have begun mashiv haruach umorid hageshem (which actually is not a request for rain but a title for H’ who controls wind and rain, otherwise we would wait till 7 Cheshvan for this also)?
