Many people have no idea that “all CAPS” constitutes “yelling” and irritates some people. Why does it bother people though? No one is actually “yelling”, and so long as the content of the post is respectful and appropriate, may I ask WHY IT MATTERS? (see, did that hurt anyone’s virtual ears?)
WHEN A PERSON LITERALLY WRITES EVERY WORD IN CAPITAL LETTERS IT GIVES THE IMPRESSION THAT HE OR SHE IS REALLY DESPERATE FOR ATTENTION. IT ALSO COMES OFF AS MANIC AND/OR HYSTERICAL. IT IS THEREFORE NOT ONLY RUDE BUT SELF-DEFEATING.
This is not the same thing as CAPITALIZED PHRASES within an otherwise normative sentence.
Oh Shreck, Because: last night I posted after midnight and I saw 9/23 I thought in a few hours is 9/24…I’m so “farmished!” I jumped out of bed extra early this morning, thinking the phone guys are coming 8am today but clearly that would be TOMORROW….
I perceive all caps writing as yelling unless it’s in context like “TOMORROW” in Eclipse’s post. I know people (non-business contacts) who tend to write “HELLO?!” if I don’t write back to an email within the amount of time they’d like. (For some, that’s five minutes.) That annoys me a lot. They should know not to disturb me while I’m on the CR!
