Did anyone see the video from China of the little girl who was run over?
I am in a state of utter shock!
Does anyone know what her status is??
October 18, 2011 2:30 pm at 2:30 pm #8187452scentsParticipantNo, what video!
Would you mind to fill us in with some details?
October 18, 2011 5:33 pm at 5:33 pm #818746BaalHaboozeParticipantUnfortunately she died after being in a coma.
October 18, 2011 11:45 pm at 11:45 pm #818747am yisrael chaiParticipantI read that the payout would be less costly if she passed than if she’d need prolonged medical care, prompting the initial driver to move on…
Rachmonim and gomlei chasadim are not attributed to them
October 19, 2011 1:10 am at 1:10 am #818748happiestMemberI heard something so sad. People were asked why it might be that no1 stopped to help and they said they are scared of a law suit being brought against them. It seems that this has happened many times there. Someone tries to be a good Samaritan and in return is dumped with a lawsuit. This scared me. This is what our world is coming to. People are afraid to do good and help others because they are afraid of the repercussions.
October 19, 2011 1:23 am at 1:23 am #818749honoluluMemberthe problem in china is that they dont have the good Samaritan act so no one is protected and recently a few ppl have been sued by the person they helped, so why would anyone risk it and help somebody
October 19, 2011 1:30 am at 1:30 am #818750GumBallMemberWas she Jewish?

October 19, 2011 2:55 am at 2:55 am #818752optimusprimeMemberWhere is the source for this video?
October 19, 2011 3:54 am at 3:54 am #818753OneOfManyParticipantAre you referring to the source of the original recording?
October 19, 2011 5:31 am at 5:31 am #818754mommamia22ParticipantI saw the original video played on the news in China (Huffpost news). I couldn’t go to sleep for hours. H’ yerachem. I was utterly speechless and couldn’t stop crying. This poor child.
My heart aches for the pain this child went through. It’s abominable that people can walk past a child laying dying and bleeding on the floor, and just ignore the child, whether out of fear or numbness. I just can’t understand it. What has this world come to? Sometimes you just want to be at the right place and the right time to be able to help someone, and it just isn’t.
Because no one picked her up, she was run over a second time by another driver within minutes of the first accident.
October 19, 2011 5:44 am at 5:44 am #818755mommamia22ParticipantA little two year old girl wandered away from her mother in the marketplace. She was hit by a van (driver hesitated after front wheels hit, then hit her again with the back wheels). She lay dying in the street. 18 people were observed to walk past her (caught on video camera from a store) and no one stopped to help, although they all obviously saw her. Then another van hit her, twice, again, as she lay there. Finally, a garbage collector walking on foot saw her and tried to pick her up, but when she could not, located her mom who brought her to the emergency room. She was on a ventilator, with brain injury, in a coma, and died this past Sunday (it happened last Thursday in China/ Wednesday NY time).
I’m sorry to give you the gruesome details. This is just one of those things, that just can’t be ignored.
Some people are claiming that the Chinese are very wary of helping strangers as there have been a number of lawsuits against good samaritans who helped elderly and injured. How could this ever be an excuse to ignore a bleeding child?!?! I just find it so unforgivable.

That’s why when I read the article and it referenced the video, there was NO way I was going to watch it. SEEING is not the same as hearing.
The article referenced another incident where someone needed help, and they believe it was a westerner, probably American, who aided and then quietly left.
It’s a different culture. Perhaps after this, things may change there.
The incident reminds us of kids in other places who are abused and not protected. And that’s quite painful.
October 19, 2011 8:43 am at 8:43 am #8187572scentsParticipantOn a side note. Never pickup anyone with suspected spinal injury!
What you should do, is manually stabalize the head, that means hold the head in a neutral position with both of your hands untill help arrives.
Encourage the patient to be still. Or else a smiling death can occur.
October 19, 2011 1:06 pm at 1:06 pm #818758mommamia22ParticipantI totally agree. However, the pedestrians could have even redirected traffic away from her. The first driver could have stopped after he thought he hit some”thing” the first time. The pedestrians could have called emergency. There was a ten minute lag before help was called. It’s scary to think of the inhumanity that can overtake some people when not thinking clearly.
October 19, 2011 6:07 pm at 6:07 pm #8187592scentsParticipantInteresting. I had a meeting a couple of weeks ago with some china men. They pointed out that in china there is a lot compasion. Especially towards the elderly and sick.
I thought that was true, I am now having second thoughts.
