Who here, like myself, are married and rarely if ever take a formal vacation (i.e. Florida, Europe, etc.), and are content with life without such vacations?

January 10, 2011 10:27 pm at 10:27 pm #726458WolfishMusingsParticipantIn nearly twenty years of marriage, we have had a vacation a total of four times.
1. We went to one of the Caesar’s Poconos Resorts for a few days
2. We went to Israel for about a week (we didn’t pay for the trip, it was a gift).
3. We went to Niagara Falls for a few days
4. We went to St. Thomas for a few days
That’s about it. We obviously don’t take vacations every year. We do like to have one every now and then, but, as you can tell, they are few and far between*.

* Unless you count a few hours out at night a vacation.
January 10, 2011 10:33 pm at 10:33 pm #726459bptParticipantA full week away? Not until I retire. The logistics of kids and work make it too challenging.
Besides, I’m in the Catskills for the summer, plus I have off Sundays and legal holidays so that’s enough for me.

January 10, 2011 11:20 pm at 11:20 pm #726461smartcookieMemberContent? I feel content without vacation. But you can’t deny that a little vacation is pretty good…
Anyway, I made one big trip- soon after my wedding.
I’m planning another one now IYH, 6 yrs later. That’s not too often, is it? 🙂
It sure is very healthy (and expensive!)

January 10, 2011 11:39 pm at 11:39 pm #726463smartcookieMemberCedarhurst- you don’t agree that getting away from noisy city life and daily stress, and spending some time with your spouse ONLY in a very relaxed setting, is healthy?

As you get older and the kids get older your busy life becomes less busy. The circumstances allows you e to make some quality time for yourselves.

January 11, 2011 2:08 pm at 2:08 pm #726466SJSinNYCMemberI have a wonderful life right here. I have a great time with my family and friends. I love it. I am 100% content if I don’t travel.
But, I love traveling too. I love seeing the amazing things Hashem has put around the world. Its hard to explain how much you can connect to Hashem by seeing the great wonders of the world.

The same applies to me as well. Nonetheless, it’s nice to get away and have a change of scenery once in a while.
