I’ve only heard it used by one speaker in BMG, and it’s in the English version of Mishnas Rebbi Aharon. I’m wondering if it’s an uncommon variation, or a product of yeshivishe English. (It does come up on just a few pages in Google, but the Internet is bound to use some bad English on occasion, so that doesn’t mean much.)

I never heard of it. What does it mean? It sounds like someone who died and came back as a gilgul!

I never heard of it. What does it mean?

It is used to mean “back and forth.” (In some of the Google results, “up” was more literal, as in [not actual text] “I have to go to the mountains tomorrow, but I think I can get up and back in one day,” which isn’t quite the same thing. The uses I was referring to were more like “R’ Yankel went up and back for an hour.”)

You are a very chashuv yid.

Because I went to hear someone speak, and opened a biography?

Aharon Hakohen WENT UP to shomayim & then CAME BACK as a gilgul as Shmuel Hanavi. upon being niftar he WENT UP to Shamayim & CAME BACK a second time as a gilgul this time as Ezra Hasofer in the days of the beginning of the 2nd Bais Hamikdosh

as we all know Pinchos the son of Elozor the son of Aharon Hakohen was given the gift of living forever & CAME BACK as Eliyahu Hanavi in the days of Achav on Har Hacarmel. He remains alive today forever and comes to every bris made & will be our leader as we await for mashiach to come, once we do the proper teshuva Hashem awaits for us to do so mashiach can come

    5 month old thread

Still never heard it before. Maybe I can say it to someone else and see what happens. Though I would have to create a scenario.

Have you said it to anyone Randomex?

    #1209334

Lightbrite, if we want to know how old a thread is,

we can look at the time-stamp under the first post…

I mostly stick to standard English.
