1. Replace paid teachers with volunteers.
2. Instead of heating a large building, pack more students into smaller rooms by utilizing the top half of the classroom space to seat more students. Instead of having a small class size, have more volunteer teachers per class.
3. Have two types of schools: peanut, and peanut free. Schools that are not peanut free should have the students eat nothing but peanuts, peanut soup, peanut butter sandwiches, etc. because peanuts are cheap.
4. For girls’ schools, make a rule against long hair. Offer free haircuts, and sell the hair that is cut off.
5. All schools should have a gardening class that teaches how to cultivate rare fruits. Sell those.
6. Make the students teach themselves.March 6, 2019 9:23 pm at 9:23 pm #1690743ramateshkolnikParticipantDon’t pay your staff
March 6, 2019 10:21 pm at 10:21 pm #1690773DovidBTParticipantReplace the teachers with robots.
March 6, 2019 10:22 pm at 10:22 pm #1690774MistykinsParticipantReplace chairs with bicycle generators. Kids have to peda if they want light and heat.
All older children take younger siblings to school and take turns providing daycare for them.
Add a baking class, sell school-made challah to parents.
Kollel students teach all religious classes.
Children make their own paper
Classes taught in large lecture halls (though the size of classes now, it seems to be heading that way)
All kids at a certain age (maybe 15) spend 1 year away from their studies and teach younger kids
March 6, 2019 11:10 pm at 11:10 pm #1690781The little I knowParticipantSend out all kids to raise funds. Younger ones with pushkas on street corners or in large Jewish groceries. Without kids in the classrooms, you can save oodles on heat, A/C, teachers, and lots of other staff.
Principals and menahalim can use time otherwise used for faculty supervision and meetings to clean the rooms, wash floors, and refill paper towel dispensers.

March 7, 2019 2:12 pm at 2:12 pm #1691058DovidBTParticipantEmulate the ways of the Patriarchs. They didn’t need fancy buildings with utilities. Find an empty field and erect tents.

But it would raise cooling costs.
You can lower heating costs by wearing additional layers of clothing. Removing layers to adjust for a hot environment is less effective, and is limited by tznius.
I stand with my suggestions of tents and robotic teachers.
