For the health professionals on YWN – how do you treat a patient from a 1 car accident? An example of a 1 car accident you’ll find in the news section here.
November 26, 2015 9:26 pm at 9:26 pm #1116766prayerParticipantI sugges you post again and rephrase your question. I don’t understand it. Just a suggestion.
November 26, 2015 11:05 pm at 11:05 pm #1116767popa_bar_abbaParticipantI first take the patient out of the car. Then assess whether there are any injuries. If there are none, I quickly advise them that I will pretend there are injured for a cut of the proceeds. When they syay yes, I quickly hit them over the head so they won’t have to pretend.
November 27, 2015 12:02 am at 12:02 am #1116768HealthParticipantPrayer – It’s a question to refresh people’s memories – how do you treat a patient from a 1 car accident?
November 27, 2015 12:34 am at 12:34 am #1116769HealthParticipantPBA – “I first take the patient out of the car. Then assess whether there are any injuries.”
You obviously have No medical training and/or common sense!

November 27, 2015 1:59 am at 1:59 am #1116773JosephParticipantDY: This is no joking matter. The coffee room is a place for serious discussion.
November 27, 2015 2:03 am at 2:03 am #1116774charliehallParticipantCall 911 or Hatzalah.
Not even a shilah.
November 27, 2015 2:05 am at 2:05 am #1116775🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantim still trying to figure out his question. why would it be any different than any other trauma scene?
November 27, 2015 3:08 am at 3:08 am #1116776🐵 ⌨ GamanitParticipantI first put on gloves, then check if the scene is safe. I assume the victim has a spinal injury, so I will take spinal precautions. I will assess the patients ABCs and bleeding, and treat anything really urgent. I will perform a rapid extraction, one minute head to toe evaluation, provide oxygen if I did not do so by A and transport. During transport I will do further assessment and treat anything I see.
November 27, 2015 4:55 am at 4:55 am #1116777popa_bar_abbaParticipantYou are all idiots.
If the patient is in a safe place, sure you take spinal precautions. But if patient is in a car from a car crash that could blow up, you yank them out of the car fast.
Also, you don’t “assume” spinal injury. Why assume? You can just injure their spine if you need it.
November 27, 2015 5:31 am at 5:31 am #1116778🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantwhat do you recommend we yank?
November 27, 2015 5:43 am at 5:43 am #1116779HealthParticipantJoe – “Sedate him.”
By talking to him/her, not with medication.

You didn’t even bother to read the OP – “For the health professionals on YWN”! You’re EMS or Hatzolah or another medical guy.
November 27, 2015 6:05 am at 6:05 am #1116782HealthParticipantGamanit -“I will perform a rapid extraction,”
What? Why would you do that?!?
November 27, 2015 6:09 am at 6:09 am #1116783JosephParticipantOf course by talking to him. We’re two professionals. We speak the shprach.
November 27, 2015 6:20 am at 6:20 am #1116784HealthParticipantPBA – I know you’re joking, but for e/o else -“But if patient is in a car from a car crash that could blow up, you yank them out of the car fast”
There is no reason to yank them out of the car fast, unless the car is on fire!
November 27, 2015 6:37 am at 6:37 am #1116785👑RebYidd23ParticipantPBA is assuming that all cars are either on fire or about to blow up.
November 27, 2015 4:01 pm at 4:01 pm #1116786HealthParticipantYidd23 -“PBA is assuming that all cars are either on fire or about to blow up.”
Unfortunately a lot of people think that! One of the rules in Medicine is “First – Do no harm!”
Leave them in there until a professional takes them out.
November 27, 2015 4:04 pm at 4:04 pm #1116787☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWho says popa’s not a professional?
November 27, 2015 5:23 pm at 5:23 pm #1116788Little FroggieParticipant-“Leave them in there until a professional takes them out.”
Sometimes r”l there may not be much left for them. One must use common sense..
Very often these things burst into flames r”l.. and every second counts… One is sitting directly above a can of gasoline, unless it’s horse driven, and a collision r”l is a common cause for eruption.
November 27, 2015 8:00 pm at 8:00 pm #1116789JosephParticipantPerhaps Health is automotive engineering professional and he is relating his career vehicular experience on the combustive qualities of automobiles.

I’m not saying that no cars catch on fire after a crash, but it’s rare. As much as the Frum world doesn’t watch TV, they are influenced by it.
Don’t move the victim! E/O should carry a fire extinguisher in their homes & in their vehicles.
November 28, 2015 5:12 pm at 5:12 pm #1116791takahmamashParticipantI thought it was Popa that was on fire!
November 28, 2015 11:29 pm at 11:29 pm #1116792popa_bar_abbaParticipantThere’s a reason nobody carries a fire extinguisher in their car.
If you put it in the trunk, you won’t be able to get it. If you put it in the cabin, it could become a dangerous missile in a crash.
November 28, 2015 11:48 pm at 11:48 pm #1116793👑RebYidd23ParticipantIsn’t it strange that Health is disturbed by Popa’s taking the patient out of the car but not by the part where he hits them on the head and injures their spine?
November 29, 2015 12:30 am at 12:30 am #11167942scentsParticipantNo different than a pt from a multi car accident.
If you are referring to EMS (usually the ones treating pts at car accidents), after making sure they are safe, ABCs and transport to an appropriate facility.
November 29, 2015 12:39 am at 12:39 am #1116795🐵 ⌨ GamanitParticipantYou were referring to the accident on the front page. Being as there was severe bleeding, there’s no time for a KED.
November 29, 2015 2:18 am at 2:18 am #1116796HealthParticipantGamanit -“You were referring to the accident on the front page. Being as there was severe bleeding, there’s no time for a KED”
I was referring to that case or something similar. No where does it say anything about bleeding. Where you there?
November 29, 2015 2:27 am at 2:27 am #1116797HealthParticipantPBA -“If you put it in the trunk, you won’t be able to get it.”
Put it in the trunk. If you see a car on fire – you can help out!
November 29, 2015 2:33 am at 2:33 am #1116798HealthParticipantYidd23 -“Isn’t it strange that Health is disturbed by Popa’s taking the patient out of the car”
Because people will take this seriously. The rest – probably not!

If you are referring to EMS (usually the ones treating pts at car accidents”
Now s/o is getting warmer! But you’re wrong. It is different than
a multi-car crash!
November 29, 2015 2:50 am at 2:50 am #11168002scentsParticipantThere is no difference in treating a pt that was involved in a one car accident vs a multi car accident, unless it becomes an MCI which means that the pts get triage’d and treated according to their injuries.
If you truly want an answer you must give a more detailed scenario.
November 29, 2015 3:07 am at 3:07 am #1116801HealthParticipant2scents -“There is no difference in treating a pt that was involved in a one car accident vs a multi car accident, unless it becomes an MCI”
Ah, but there is a difference! Nothing to do with a MCI. This was the purpose of this thread.
Go research it & then come back and let us know what you found out.
November 29, 2015 1:08 pm at 1:08 pm #11168022scentsParticipantTo answer your original question.
By maintaining and securing ABCs. Taking spinal precautions loading the pt and transporting to a trauma center.
Large bore iV in route. Other treatments would be splinting, needle d, as needed.
In hospital, based on the MOI and injuries a level 2 or 1 trauma will be called with sub specialties called as needed.
The same is done if it’s a one car MVA or multi car. One difference would be if another pt in same car died, it will automatically be upgraded to a level 1 trauma. But that goes under the category of MOI.
Is there something specific your asking?
November 29, 2015 3:16 pm at 3:16 pm #1116803HealthParticipant2scents – Look there is a difference in the assessment between a 1 car accident and a multi- car crash. And I thought you were getting close. Go research it!
November 29, 2015 3:22 pm at 3:22 pm #1116804HealthParticipantprofound101 -“DRSABCD”
How about you? Or you only give Musser about music?!?
November 29, 2015 4:04 pm at 4:04 pm #11168052scentsParticipantThat is incorrect, there is no difference.
instead of acting as if you are in the know, just spill the beans and lets see what you are referring to.
November 29, 2015 4:40 pm at 4:40 pm #1116806popa_bar_abbaParticipantI knew the answer the whole time.
November 29, 2015 6:52 pm at 6:52 pm #1116807HealthParticipant2scents -“That is incorrect, there is no difference.”
There is a difference. I’m not Mechuav to teach you medicine. I was nice enough to get you started. If you show me that you’re trying, I’ll help you out. Even if I don’t get any money from you!
November 29, 2015 9:59 pm at 9:59 pm #11168082scentsParticipantSo you are only interested in going the distance to show everyone that they dont know and its just you that knows?
But to just write (what you believe is) the correct answer, thats already to much for you?!
You make it sound as if your an attending ER doc in some trauma center and its only you that knows something, you dont come across as someone in the know..
November 30, 2015 12:47 am at 12:47 am #1116809HealthParticipant2scents -“You make it sound as if your an attending ER doc in some trauma center and its only you that knows something, you dont come across as someone in the know.”
I’m not an ER doctor, but I do know medicine. BTW, I don’t care how I come across. If you’re truly interested in knowing – let me know. I haven’t come across too many guys in EMS whether Jew or not, that really care!
November 30, 2015 12:53 am at 12:53 am #1116810🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantthey may care very much but not be interested in the way you approach people. plus they may have mentors they can go to, why assume they don’t care because they don’t take you up on the offer?
November 30, 2015 1:17 am at 1:17 am #1116811HealthParticipantSL – “they may care very much but not be interested in the way you approach people. plus they may have mentors they can go to, why assume they don’t care because they don’t take you up on the offer?”
Boy the way you jumped on my post – you didn’t have time to read it! Your assumption of why I wrote – “I haven’t come across too many guys in EMS whether Jew or not, that really care!” is really funny, if it wasn’t so sad. And you’re the one always giving Musser about Judging People Favorly.
November 30, 2015 1:57 am at 1:57 am #1116812profound101ParticipantHealth:
D – Danger, always check the danger to you, any bystanders and then the injured or ill person. Make sure you do not put yourself in danger when going to the assistance of another person.
R – Response, is the person conscious? Do they respond when you talk to them, touch their hands or squeeze their shoulder?
S – Send for help, call 911 and Hatzolah (in that order)
B – Breathing, heck for breathing by looking for chest movements (up and down). Listen by putting your ear near to their mouth and nose. Feel for breathing by putting your hand on the lower part of their chest. If the person is unconscious but breathing, turn them onto their side, carefully ensuring that you keep their head, neck and spine in alignment.
C – CPR
D – Defibrillator
Considering your user name I didn’t think it needed an explanation.
And to answer you question I partake of a varied number of leisure activities.
November 30, 2015 2:24 am at 2:24 am #1116813HealthParticipantProfound 101 – That’s not what I want. Look there is a difference in the assessment between a 1 car accident and a multi- car crash. How do you assess a pt. who’s a victim with no other cars around?
November 30, 2015 2:51 am at 2:51 am #1116814🍫Syag LchochmaParticipantwould you like to hear what i would have said if i wasn’t judging you favorably?
