I know the conversation was closed, with good reason, but I hope I’m not violating any rules – just wanted to explain my views. Once more, eisav soneh l’yaacov is a legitimate fact, in response to this, i don’t recommend a full scale crusade, just caution. It’s something that we must understand. That’s our role, as am yisrael, to be the despised nation of the world. The disproportionate levels of hate that our tiny nation has received its in lifespan should indicate that this is no coincidence, it is the role hashem wishes to play. Treat people with respect, regardless of their backgrounds etc but never forget the facts. For our own survival. In the thread above, I was merely commenting on the reference to the maamar chazal, not the the optimum treatment of help at home. We have rules set in place to prevent our fraternization with non jews, again not relevant to interactions with help at home but still indicative of our stance towards non Jews.
Personally, I treat everyone who doesn’t give me a reason not to with the basic respect that all human beings deserve. I recommend the same to everyone, but don’t overdo it and appreciate the fact that eisav soneh l’yaacov is just that, a fact!

Yes, anti-semitism is something we all live with most days. Whether in areas with large Jewish populations or in areas with hardly a Jew in sight. And everything in between.
October 19, 2012 3:46 am at 3:46 am #900195WIYMemberYes there still is plenty anti Semitism and there are still plenty non Jews convinced that Jews have all the money and that we run everything blah blah blah.
Most sane adults will not say anything anti-Semitic unless they are angry, had something to drink or if you act in an obnoxios way.

Well said, maybe we Jews should start treating the non Jews with some respect and we’ll see the same from them.

We’ve tried that for thousands of years.
The results were churbans, pograms, beatings, murders, expulsions, inquisitions, blood libels, and holocausts.

We should treat them with respect because they are gods creations, but nothing at all will ever change the fact that Eisav Soneh L’yaacov.

Moral of the story, if you say good morning to your non Jewish neighbor, then when they decide to murder 6 million of us they will spare you!
