CBS news: ” A fire bombing of cars in Brooklyn two months ago had investigators believing it was a hate crime, but now they think it may have been arson to claim insurance money, CBS 2?s John Slattery reports”.
OMG! This leaves me speechless.

I said “if its true.” The 3 cars were owned by one person (I remember hearing) and the police are strongly leaning towards it being an insurance scam. I dont know one way or the other. All I am saying is that if it turns out to be a scam it will be a huge Chillul.
January 12, 2012 6:29 am at 6:29 am #842890Avi KParticipantThis is very strange. Fire and theft insurance go together so they could have had the cars stolen. In some neighborhoods it is enough to leave them unlocked.
January 12, 2012 12:12 pm at 12:12 pm #842891apushatayidParticipantWas an owner or owners of these vehicles identified, or did anyone step foward at the time and identify themselves as an owner of one of the torched cars?
January 12, 2012 2:10 pm at 2:10 pm #842892real-briskerMemberWIY – Once again, were do you see anyhting about jews in the article?
January 12, 2012 3:11 pm at 3:11 pm #842893WIYMemberThe cars are owned by Jews
January 12, 2012 3:26 pm at 3:26 pm #8428942qwertyParticipantI dont understand what insurance scam can there be if insurance just pays the value of the car. What can this person benefit from doing it?
January 12, 2012 3:41 pm at 3:41 pm #842895BTGuyParticipantHi Ferd.
Who cares how long it takes for news to reach someone! Have you not heard of “history”? News never expires.
Anyway:
I hope it is not insurance fraud. That is all I can say.
I am not sure why they once believed it was arson and now they think it’s insurance fraud. Could be an anti-semitic spin, could be true.

January 12, 2012 6:17 pm at 6:17 pm #842899Avi KParticipant2qwerty, the owner gets the book value. The value of the car in question might be far less because of unusual wear and tear, accidents, etc.
January 12, 2012 6:35 pm at 6:35 pm #842900BTGuyParticipantActually, there is an insurance company paying the value of a model from a year later with less mileage. I forget who they are.
