You dont have to keep this thread once there is an answer.
I put in a few careful responses on some threads today and 99 percent of them seem to not be going through when I log out. But when I log back in, they are there in “gold”?
Is it a server issue or something? The least thought-out response is the one that took root. Hmmmmmm.
Thank you for any info. We all would like to see our thought-out posts contribute to a thread.
June 22, 2012 8:52 pm at 8:52 pm #880841CsarMemberThe mods sometimes approve posts not in chronological order.
Also, mod 42 has a nasty habit of putting through his own posts without approving regular posters comments who posted earlier. 😉
June 22, 2012 9:03 pm at 9:03 pm #880842YW Moderator-20ModeratorBT- the yellow posts you see we’re not approved YET.
Csar- sometimes we approve shorter posts first and then read through the long Megillos. We don’t concentrate to keep posts in the exact order.
And also, moderators have a very special privilege of getting their posts come up immediately, as soon as we hit “send post”, since our posts don’t need approval! We are a very privileged species.
June 22, 2012 9:17 pm at 9:17 pm #880843CsarMemberHeheh. The problem with approving them not in chronological order is that readers often make a mental bookmark of where they are holding on a thread by the last post they read. So if you approve an earlier post later (or make a mod post without first approving the other, earlier, pending posts), people will often miss the older comments that were approved later since they thought they already read everything up to the last post they saw.
June 24, 2012 5:07 am at 5:07 am #880844YW Moderator-42ModeratorI usually try not to approve posts out of order within the same thread for that reason. But, I will sometimes skip over long posts in one thread and mod the later posts in other threads.
In terms of my own posts, I often write responses to threads as I am reading them, but there are still many posts to approve in the thread that I don’t have time for. In that case I usually try to mark my post as “un-modded” so that it won’t come up until anoyher mod (or myself) approves it, which will hopefully be after the previous ones.

I often see them before others are approved.
June 24, 2012 7:25 am at 7:25 am #880846YW Moderator-42ModeratorI’m only careful about this within the same thread. Within the same thread I try not to post if there are still posts awaiting moderation and if I do post I will usually mark it as “un-modded” so that it won’t show up out of order. Sometimes I forget to check or someone else will post while I am writing mine and I miss it.

June 25, 2012 3:34 pm at 3:34 pm #880849BTGuyParticipantThank you 80 and 42, for the new information.
I have not experienced that problem other than when my stuff was being blocked during the Jothar days, so I thought that may be the case again.
Thanks again. : )
