April 27, 2009 1:32 am at 1:32 am #656702yrosMemberA good tip is to turn off your phone (BLACKBERRY)
April 27, 2009 1:43 am at 1:43 am #656703yrosMemberrecently, in every shul you go to the entire davening people are texting on their phones. Why can’t people set aside a little time to daven? Does everyone have to text the entire day???????? The world is meshugah!!
April 27, 2009 4:06 am at 4:06 am #656704kapustaParticipantI was in Washington D.C. recently, and there were a bunch of members of the H.O.R. that were texting. Looked ridiculous.
April 27, 2009 1:16 pm at 1:16 pm #656705shmerilMemberif I remember correctly some shuls are puting or planing on puting a device that blocks the cell phones
April 27, 2009 10:41 pm at 10:41 pm #656706JaxMembershmeril: that’s a brilliant idea, if they do it in colleges, they should for sure do it in shuls! but few would say about the real important calls, say from a pregnant wife that don’t want it!
April 28, 2009 12:30 am at 12:30 am #656707iluvpotatokugelMemberthanx mod ill take ur advice(it did look a bit wierd when i typed it)

May 1, 2009 2:46 am at 2:46 am #656737goody613Membersorry mmroosinehry youre in the wrong thread for that but if u want i heard the reason tefilos aren’t answered is b/c of talking during davening
May 1, 2009 2:55 am at 2:55 am #656738mroosinsehryMembergoody, I try not to talk.
May 1, 2009 2:57 am at 2:57 am #656739kapustaParticipantdavening tip: In order to have your teffila answered, you have to believe that Hashem is capable of giving it to you and that he will.
May 1, 2009 3:46 am at 3:46 am #656740mroosinsehryMemberyou also must know that you are standing in front of Hashem Yisborach. Lehavdil: If you were standing in front of the president begging for something, would you be making jokes, would you be shmoozing with someone else, would be busy texting? How can you do it in front of Hashem. Are there not enough tzarros in the world? Walk throught the hospitals and go see whats going on how many frum yidden are so sick, and you are sitting there and laughing joking during davening, how could a person possibly do this. If you aren’t serious by davening when are you serious? PLEASE, DAVEN AND STOP DOING OTHER THINGS DURING DAVENING!
May 1, 2009 3:58 am at 3:58 am #656741anonymisssParticipantThanks, goody. I think goody has gr8 things to say on tefilla, I remember from other times that you piped up on this thread. Keep ’em comin!

May 1, 2009 9:24 am at 9:24 am #656742kapustaParticipantmroos, I once saw someone put on chapstick during aleinu. absolutely ridiculous.
May 1, 2009 6:07 pm at 6:07 pm #656743mroosinsehryMemberThe Shulchan Aruch says that if someone talks during chazaros hashatz “Gadol Avono Mintzo”. This is unnacceptable. It is assur to talk from baruch sheamar until after tachanun, and low and behold we all see many doing it
May 1, 2009 7:57 pm at 7:57 pm #656744mroosinsehryMemberDo people not hold of the shulchan aruch. This is all basic halacha that everyone knows. Are we lacking in our yiras shamayim????
May 3, 2009 4:22 am at 4:22 am #656745JaxMembermroosinsehry: the issue is people just don’t think before they act!
May 3, 2009 9:01 pm at 9:01 pm #656746goody613Memberi once heard if u daven & have in mind pirush hamilos if u don’t have in mind youre talking to Hashem youre not yotze. i think thats our problem we don’t realize that
“shivisi Hashem lenegdi Tamid”
May 3, 2009 10:26 pm at 10:26 pm #656749mroosinsehryMemberalso, another tip for better davening is not to speak nivul peh. THe mouth that speaks nivul peh can’t daven to Hashem.
May 3, 2009 10:32 pm at 10:32 pm #656750mroosinsehryMemberrabosai: Does anyone know how strong the power of teflla is? If we would only know how strong tefilla was no one would talk!!
May 3, 2009 10:38 pm at 10:38 pm #656752aussieboyParticipantmroosinsehry: How do you know how powerful teffilah is? And what does not talking have to do with davening?
May 3, 2009 10:43 pm at 10:43 pm #656753mroosinsehryMemberi mean’t talking during davening. I ACTUALLY learn the halachos of tefilla!
May 4, 2009 12:42 am at 12:42 am #656754goody613Memberto follow in what mroosinehry is saying the chofetz chaim says the reason tefillos arent answered is because the mouth that says lachon hara Hashem won’t listen to
May 4, 2009 12:58 am at 12:58 am #656755mroosinsehryMembergoody: thanks for clarifying it I wasn’t sure who said it. AND This is 100% TRUE!
May 4, 2009 1:36 am at 1:36 am #656756mroosinsehryMembergoody it is so wonder ful to have you with all your d’var torahs!
May 4, 2009 1:46 am at 1:46 am #656757mroosinsehryMemberKEEP IT UP
