I think YWN should add a new tab for the Tzedakah advertisements that appear on the home page for the following reasons:
1) its not always apparent it is an ad/appeal at first
2) there are countless tragedies and I cannot give to all of them and so it becomes very depressing to constantly be besieged by them when i wish to go see the news stories
I understand if its not on the home page it will not get as many views and that is unfortunate but for those who are able to give to so many causes they can simply click on the Tzedakah Tab.
I’m sure if you offered YWN to compensate them for their lost revenue, they would consider obliging.
No such tab is forthcoming.
It’s a business. They make money on advertising.
They’re pretty obvious.
I usually go to YWN on my computer, so I always see the words [COMMUNICATED CONTENT] to indicate that it’s an ad.
I just realized that on a smartphone you don’t see those words until you open up the article. (It was, um, my mother’s smartphone. She needs it for work)
It is misleading.
