Ok this isnt an important rant but I just feel like posting this.
I was driving today and I saw a car with one of those and it just stuck me how childish and pathetic that is.
What are you trying to prove? You care what strangers on the road think? Why would you advertise to the world that your kid is an honor roll student, they dont know you or your kid?!
What do you think?
ik people who do it and its too be proud of their child and make them feel good!
WIY – I think it’s more for the kid than for the parent.
Waiting in line for carpools, or at school soccer games?
I think its more as an advertisement for the school.
would you prefer:
“My ____________(fill in the blank tatty/mommy/bubby/zeidy) was poster of the week on YWN CR”
on the back of a tricyle…
How about “YWN CR Poster of the Week” on the Poster of the Week’s subtitle?
I’ve seen bumper stickers that say “Oh yeah? Well my kid can beat up your honor student”

72, you may be onto something with the poster of the week thing.
I think the “honor student” bumper sticker is more for the “shtick” of doing it than actually having an honor student. Its wonderful that Mr/s. Random Driver has a kid whos an honor student, and good for them, but it doesn’t make much difference to me (and probably not many other people either). Sorry.
Theres also “your kid may be an honor student, but you’re still an idiot.” Whoops, wrong thread.

I think they are doing that for their kids who get those stickers from school. It’s a family thing.
I can totally understand it, and I am totally for it.
The dumb ones, to me, are the ones that read, “My kid beat up your honor student.” Why would they want THAT on their bumper? It’s mean. Also, the ones that read, “My pomeranian is smarter than your honor student,” are equally dumb.
It’s the battle of “on the road reading materials.” I appreciate drivers want to give us something to read at a red light, but let’s not have rivalries.
The real problem that I can see is for the child. Suppose just one marking period they get even a B-. Off goes the sticker or the kid has to look at it for four months until the next report card. They have pressure to live up to a bumper sticker.
how about “baby on board”?

Feivel and Wiy – the baby on board sign is for a different reason. I also used to think it was weird for the reason Feivel mentioned. Then I found out that it’s in case there is an accident C”V, the people who come to rescue should know there might be a baby to look for in the wreck in case the driver or other passengers can’t tell them (unconscious etc).

BTW Gefen thats a nice theory but in practice guys are just showing off that they are parents. Otherwise explain eg little princess on board or mr small on board etc.

Well if i would see such a bumper sticker i would think that the kids definitely doesn’t take after the parents as the sticker is not grammatically correct! (its kids are, not is) lol
