Anybody else think it’s strange that the most common way to commemorate Memorial Day is with a BBQ?

The soldiers forgot the intricacies of spelling during their time out in the field… When an enemy shoots they don’t ponder if it’s to kil or to kill… they take cover with somehat or whatever hat they find…

It makes as much sense as observing Thanksgiving by watching football games on TV.
Or as much sense as them using their “god”‘s name as a curse word.
As a current Servicemember, it actually bothers me a lot. That being said, they’re not celebrating Memorial Day, they’re celebrating the First Day of Summer.
