So the women keep making so many threads about women stuff: makeup, perfume, makeup hair, make up and other stuff. So I decided we needed to have our own thread where we can discuss manly issues like barbeques and meat and stuff like that.

    So I’ll start:

So my mother taught me how to crochet when I was really young but I don’t remember anymore and I really wanted to knit my own talis and teffilin bag. Any good sewing tips?

You want to knit or crochet your own tallis/tefillin bag? (There is a difference)

    #1011261

    dunno:

get out of our clubhouse!!! We will be talking about things you girls can never understand!!

    yossi z.

No I think it is knitting. I was thinking it would be a great way to relax while getting a nice new tallis bag at the same time. After all I can’t knit little boots- I’m a man.

    #1011262

i would recommend the braided cable stitch.

you could use the basic box stitch, but thats more girlish

Its about time there was a mens thread. You dont know if i’m a man or not from my name so i’m happy to post and you wont know. Mod 80 is also genderless or of indiscriminate gender and you havent stopped him/her either. In fact from most posters names we dont have a clue what gender they are. We’ll have to judge from the content of their posts so lets see… Um… Derech and mod 80… Knitting??? Yep as I suspected, both females. you’ve definitely both got to leave this discussion and go join dunno in the painted nails thread, otherwise known (for some strange reason) as a MANicure

knitting is in general a ladies thing to do so if you want something like that done, then you gotta ask your wife for help, sorry this time, try to start a mens thread with real mans stuff.

Lets talk some Gamarah and Sh”A or a good R’ Chaim’s chap and then we will see who is the man in the (coffee) room…

When someone will be able to answer what the gamarah in M. Chanuka Daf 563 amud gimel says than we will know who is realy a man.

This thread is starting to look pitiful so I will be so kind and help you guys out:

    – Talk about your good old Dirah/ Dorm Days

    – Talk about where to find the best shwarma, falafel..etc..

Talk about how to make a mean bbq

    – Discuss how to make a good steak

    – Good luck

    #1011274

deiyezooger: Nice try there. Real men know that chanuka doesn’t have 563 blatt.

We could begin by inviting our friends Glen, Jack, Johnny and Jim.

    #1011277

Please, I don’t usually like Jack and I never deal with Jim.

Shnitzel days I just ended up making my own shnitzel and selling.

How old are most of the men here anyway?

I heard it has 8 daf. According to beis shammai you have to start on tes and work your way back to beis. Beis hillel allows you to start from beis.

Shaila: If I use my dryer to warm up my left over frozen shwarma, may I use the dryer for frozen pizza, a couple of days later? Please help.

Also, ladies, please please, GET OUT of here. This is our very important thread. K? Thanks, see you in lipstick thread

    Please clarify:

Was the food wrapped while in the dryer? With what?

    How hot is your dryer?

How old was the shwarma? (was it nosen taam lifgam?)

    #1011282

It was double wrapped, I always make sure of that. You know those brown paper bags, and it had wax paper around it as well.

It was on “regular heavy”. But I may be inclined to use permanent press next time.

You really expect me to remember how old all my frozen left overs are?

    #1011283

You probably have to clean it out really well and then put it on high for an hour or so.

Please act responsibly and get a contractual agreement from your wife so that she can’t later claim that she thought you were “just joking” and didn’t think you’d “actually do it”.

Also, remember to clean out the lint trap before AND after every cook cycle.

I suggest tumble dry for 20 min and then any medium dry until the cheese is bubbling nicely/schwarma is steaming.

Remove cheese/schwarma bits with a plastic knife after the dryer has cooled. Metal utensils tend to make marks in the dryer when trying to scrape off the cheese.

    #1011284

Thank you so much! This was the funniest thread I ever read, I could not stop laughing . . .(until I got to the lipstick thread which isn’t very funny)

you should needlepoint the bag, not knit or crochet.

    knit a scarf or sweater

    crochet a hat or yamulka

needlepoint your talis and tefillin bags.

you guys are wasting your time

right now im sitting in front of a 64 inch HD TV watching the game, drinking some brews with my best buds.

half time im gonna put some slabs of ribs on the grill, if my huge dog doesnt eat them first.

after the game i think ill sit and relax over a good game of poker while puffing on some cuban stogies, and sipping some fine brandy.

Oh yes.. and by the way I think there’s a Gemorah somewhere (or maybe Medrash) that sais that a man brings home wheat/four – does he chew it? A man brings home flax – does he cloth himself with it? It’s us women that complement and bring shleimus to a man’s work. A woman is she who makes the bread & CREATES THE THREADS.

Yochi please tell your husband that there actually is a masseches chanuka (it isn’t very commonly known by that name though). It is about 2-3 blatt at most and is in the middle of masseches shabbos.
