If honeybees made maple syrup, and maple trees made honey, would Winnie the Pooh tap trees instead of bee hives?

The problem is that there are no maple trees in the 100 Acre Woods where I live, that’s why I eat what comes from the hives- whether it was honey or maple syrup.
Can you send me some pancakes please, I’m getting hungry!Since the production of maple syrup requires cooking, any bees that produce it would be a fairly advanced species beyond that of normal honey bees. I’d be extremely cautious stealing their product without donning some mighty powerful protection.
