qwertyuiop-
I just switched to the Firefox browser, and the page looks fine. When someone creates a “li” tag without a “ul” or “ol” tag first, the rest of the page does not look good in Internet Explorer (IE). IE has a problem telling that the rest of the posts are not list items. One of the early posts on the page used the “li” tag in this manner.
ames-
I’ll be happy to help if I can, but please realize:
1) There are others here who probably do this professionally, and can see my attempts as being amateurish.
2) I’m not always on every day, and when I am, it’s usually only at night.
Web programming is a profession that has many frum people have, and I’m sure if you throw a question out to the room someone can and will help.

Microsoft has instructions for enabling Hebrew typing on a Windows XP computer here:
http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/handson/user/xpintlsupp.mspx
I set it up on my computer, and can now toggle back-and-forth from Hebrew to English by pressing Alt + Left Shift. The cursor in the “post” window that I am now using to type this looks like a golf flag on a stick, with the flag pointing right when I type in English, and left when typing in Hebrew.
The instructions from Microsoft’s site (sans MS’s illustrations)(for XP computers):
Add Language Support
1. Go to Control Panel.
2. Click on Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options.
3. Click on Regional and Language Options.
4. The Regional and Language Options applet appears.
5. Click on the Languages tab.
6. Under Supplemental language support, select the check box beside the applicable language collection. Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages. (The complex script and right-to-left languages include Arabic, Armenian, Georgian, Hebrew, the Indic languages, Thai, and Vietnamese)
7. Click OK or Apply. You will prompted to insert the Windows CD-ROM or point to a network location where the files are located (on my computer, the files were found and installed without my needing to specify a location – ICOT). After the files are installed, you must restart your computer.
Add Keyboard/Input Method Editor
1. Follow steps 1 – 5 from “Add Language Support” above.
2. Under “Text services and input languages,” click on the “Details…” button.
3. Under Installed Services, click “Add…”
4. In the Add Input Language dialog box, click the input language and keyboard layout or Input Method Editor (IME) you want to add.
5. You should now see a language indicator in the System Tray (located at bottom right hand corner of the desktop by default)
NOTE: You can switch between different input methods by pressing the left Alt + Shift keys or the right Alt + Shift keys
Going to the Microsoft page and making sure you are comfortable with their instructions is strongly recommended. If you find this confusing, you should probably not try it, or, let someone more knowledgeable perform the update; better safe than sorry.

January 30, 2009 4:47 am at 4:47 am #1053142I can only tryMemberLesson 5 – What’s with the period on the upper-left of ASCII art drawings?
For some reason, the first line of any ASCII art drawing loses all leading spaces, even when a backtick is placed before the picture.
Putting any character after the backtick seems to prevent this from happening.
Since the period is the least obtrusive character, that’s what we use after the backtick, to preserve leading spaces on the first line of our art.
If the drawing is starting in position one of the line anyway, no period is needed.
That’s it.
You all know as much as I do now.
May I please be excused? My brain is empty (and I’d ? some sleep. Lullaby, and good night ??????…).

The only payment I need is seeing other folks having fun with this.
“Curious” and “Moish01” both are quite talented with their drawings (I’m not just referring to the cut-and-pasted ones – they have original ones too).
asdfghjkl-
It’s really not advanced – trust me.
Potchke around, make a mess a couple of times (that’s what this thread is for), but eventually you will get it. Just don’t say the bad words – you know, “I give up”. 😉

Sorry, it’s late at night and I just understood your question was serious.
My answer is: I don’t know, but it may not be necessary, as mine wasn’t.
Again, sorry for my misunderstanding – I thought you were kidding about the music notes in my prior post.

January 30, 2009 7:32 am at 7:32 am #1053158teenMemberasdfghjkli: i am not sure if it means at the beggining and end of each line or at the beggining of the post and end of the post but basically
the backtick (`) makes it so that each letter takes up the same amount of space… without it an i and w obviously take up diffrents amount of space nut the backtick will make it so that the i and w take up the same amount of space…bvasically it puts extra space before and after the i to make it take up the same amount as the w
here is with the backtick
wwwwwwww

this is without
wwwwwwww
iiiiiiii
(note: when u write it it automatically uses fixed (how it looks with the backtick) but if u dont put the backtick when u post it it will switch to proportinal (how it looks without the backtick)
hope this helps and i hope this is plain english 😛
im pretty sure this is what it is if i am incorrect someone please correct me
January 30, 2009 7:33 am at 7:33 am #1053159qwertyuiopMemberasdfghjkl: a backtick is the button on your keyboard before the numbers, you must a backtick followed by a period, before you paste the picture, and after you paste the picture.$

1) with backticks at begginng of post and after post only…result: works
2)with backticks on every line…result: does not work
3)with period…result: backtick dsisapears mewaning top line must be one space ahead of the rest of the post
January 30, 2009 8:37 am at 8:37 am #1053170teenMemberasdfghjkl: hahaha sry but that was funny
di d u put the backtick before and after each line or the begging and end of each line? it should only be put at the begging of the post and at the end…and if the first line does not line up on the left side (there are spaces at the begginng) put a period after the backtick

I don’t know if there’s any way you can install Hebrew typing without the Windows CD if the system is prompting you for it. I’ll b’n google “install Hebrew without windows cd”, but I’m not optimistic.
