March 2, 2009 10:49 pm at 10:49 pm #999683moish01Memberha not exactly a magician. it’s cool but i didn’t show my dad yet. i think he’ll get a kick out of it. a couple of friends also bought white hats (waaaaaay too rebellious, i hope i see my rebbe – ha!)
March 2, 2009 10:54 pm at 10:54 pm #999684asdfghjklParticipantmoish: ha ok!!! seems cool!!! maybe your rebbe will be impressed with any colored hat!!!??
March 2, 2009 10:59 pm at 10:59 pm #999685moish01Memberasdfghjkl, yeah right. that’s like saying he’ll be impress with a blue shirt. (which is a lot better than a T shirt in my opinion, but it aint gonna satisfy the yeshiva system.)
ps – i guess i just gave a way that i didn’t go to chofetz chaim 😉

HOpe you don’t see me coz then I’ll have given away my secret identity. (But nothing to fear as I’m the only U.K guy here!)

February 16, 2010 2:17 am at 2:17 am #999704aries2756ParticipantBefore my son got married he was extremely skinny. One year he refused to tell us his plans and just kept saying “You’ll see”. We were all sitting downstairs eating after megillah when we hear someone coming down the stairs. We ran to see who it was and there he was waddling down in a sumo wrestlers costume. It was hilarious.
February 16, 2010 2:34 am at 2:34 am #999705the.nurseMemberI went out on a date once with a guy and we ended up talking about Purim costumes… when he proceeded to tell me that his friend had dressed up on Purim as – a toilet seat!! I was seriously ROTF!

you can take cardboard and oaktag and make a small boat cut feet holes in it, (you might have to wear suspenders to keep it up) it makes the whole costume!!

I recall a story I heard once about R’ Yonoson Eibeshitz ZT”L. When he was a little boy he was what we can call a “quite lively” kid. One day he came home from cheder, went straight for the kitchen cabinets, took out a pot and a wooden spoon, and started drumming away like there was no tomorrow. His mother asked him to please stop but he answered ” my rebbi said Mishnichnas Adar Marbim Besimchas’ so I’m being besimcha, and kept on banging away!
Nothing his mother or other family members could say to make him stop. Finally his father came home and to everyone’s delight little Yonoson put down his wooden spoon. His mother complained to his father about the noisy afternoon they all experienced and Yonoson’s explanation. He approached his son and asked him why did he stop his drumming so suddenly?? So he answered sharply, “my rebbi also taught us “Mishenichnas ‘AV’ (father) mema’atim besimchah!!”
LOL
March 2, 2011 7:08 pm at 7:08 pm #999730aries2756Participant2 of my boys did very funny shtick. When my youngest was in 9th grade in YFR, he dressed up in TAG high uniform, borrowed his aunt’s sheitel which he wore in pigtails, put on rollerblades and took shelach manos to his RY. He handed him the package and then gave him a big smooch. The Rosh nearly fainted and he said “Rebbe take it easy, don’t you know its just me?”
My other son must have been 19 or 20 and was very, very skinny. He bought himself a costume and wouldn’t tell anyone what it was. Purim morning he comes down the steps in this huge blow up sumo wrestler costume that was hysterical. He could barely walk. Everyone was doing belly bumps with him.
March 2, 2011 7:30 pm at 7:30 pm #999731always hereParticipantaries~ years ago, my nephew also dressed similarly to your youngest son… but he took it a step further: as a full-blown milkmaid (with blonde wig in braids)! my sister-in-law is veryy (Chassdishe) frum, & I’m surprised she allowed this cross-dressing, but I reallyy thought he was a girl!
my favorite, funny: me walking an invisible dog– on a stiff leash, with a stiff harness– down a couple of blocks & then down Avenue J, to shul. EVERYONE, especially me!, got such a kick out of it!! :))

March 7, 2011 2:10 pm at 2:10 pm #999734Ken ZaynMemberSo noitallmr is really a doesntnoitallmr. He thinks he’s the only uk poster here. Aha! Do I have news for you! There’s actually quite a few of us here that I know of!! So let me go through my video and photos of purim 2 yrs ago cos I think I remember seeing a Mr Bean. Who was it again? Oh yes. I think I’ve got it now! Wow. Ok. I know you havent posted here very often recently. You’re probably like me, reading through but not posting too often. Nevertheless we are here. So hi!!
The funniest costume I ever saw was a man on horseback. But it was done in such a way that only when you got right close up did you realise that the rider was a fake and the real guy was actually the front legs and the horse’s head! It was phenomenal. Everyone stood there talking to the manequin until they realised he wasnt real and then they began looking for the real guy until the horse began speaking!
