I’m no baki (master) in the whole philosophy on this topic but I would love to learn more about, it if you can share!

I was once at a Shiur and the rabbi was explaining how in the non-Jewish world there’s the whole concept of star-constellations and horoscopes and personalities etc. he said there’s actually a Jewish concept on it explaining that each chodesh (month) correlates to one of the four elements that make up the world. (Aish/fire Mayim/water Aretz/earth Ruach/wind)

So my question is: what does each month represent/which element? And which ones go well together? Like can fire and fire go together and earth and wind etc.

Thanks in advance- looking forward to feedback!!

This is in the realm of Remez and Sod.

If you start learning the Parsha of the week with Rashi, you will begin to understand why the answer to your question is very complicated.

Anyone can make up correlations, but to really understand how the world works, you need to learn Torah.

Tur states that each month corresponds to one of the Shevatim.

Sefer Yeztirah has several lists of Twelve, which it correlates to the months.

Adar corresponds to the letter Kuf, Shevet Dan, and the koach of Tzchok – laughter.

And now we are all much smarter.

Lets go back to discussing snow shoveling, the IDF, YCT, and the like. Where it makes not much difference if you don’t know what you’re talking about.

    T613, agreed.

And I second your motion, Logician, but I was disappointed that you left out of the discussion list, seminary applications, seminary info, seminary types, and the shidduch crisis.

Also, it’s one thing to have the eminent Talmudicians of the CR weigh in on Halacha and hashkafa, but I think quoting Sefer Yetzirah here is getting a bit carried away.

Well, that is the preeminent source for the concept questioned…

Ok fine, so he is only quoting the Bnei Yisoschar.

If you want to see a (presumably) non-drush explanation of the four yesodei habriah, see the Rambam Yesodei Hatorah end of perek gimmel/beginning of perek daled.
