This thread is dedicated for you to share the most outrageous stories you’ve been unfortunate to bear witness to, heard second hand or simply know of.

my Kids school asked me for what style filter my workplace has. This is something I obviously have no control over yet, they asked

Someone went to a store to buy a birthday cake. They asked for Happy Birthday to be written on it in blue frosting. The man at the store asked if it was for a boy or a girl. When they said it was for a girl, he used pink frosting. The buyer didn’t complain but removed the lettering at home.

The most common is basket type but some coffeemakers use cone type. Even if you have no control over it, it shouldn’t be too hard to find out.

    This thread is dedicated….

Reminds me of something so outrageous. Something recently purchased (religious article) with my own money, had the first half of it plastered with “dedications” (ads, to be precise). No one dedicated it other than me, with my money. I paid for it, I should have MY NAME in it. Why do I deserve to have someone else’s advertisements in my thing??

    OUTRAGEOUS!!

You should put your name in it.

This happened to us this past Sunday in Yerushalayim.

We were in a shopping center, which had inadequate parking. The parking lot had a side section with enough room for 12 cars. The ingress and egress had room for a car going in and out at the same time. This is where I parked, since it was the only spot left in the whole parking lot.

When we got there at 1:30p.m., there was a car parked blocking part 1/2 of the in and out section. When I got back to my car at 3:45, there was another car blocking the other side leaving 12 cars with no way out and 10 people were there screaming. One car got a ticket at 9:10a.m. and the other at 2:00p.m.

We looked for something to open the car doors, so we can push it out of the way, but nothing was available.

Someone called the Police, who came 20 minutes later. The cop got the cell phone numbers of each car owner and called them. He told them to come out immediately and that there are 10 people trying to get out.

One person answered, “I can’t, I’m in Bnai Brak.” The other answered, “I can’t, I’m in Beer Sheva.” Unbelievable chutzpah and lack of Derech Eretz.

We had to lift one of the cars and push it enough for us to get out. It cost us well over an hour and prevented us from doing other things we needed to do.

Each of those cars should have been towed within five minutes of having been ticketed.

This is what would have happened in most municipalities in the world.

catch yourself – ticketed cars don’t normally get towed unless they are specifically in a tow zone.

I would think that a place which blocks other cars would (or at least should) be by definition a tow zone.

I am a long time member of a well known online Yeshivish forum. I think I qualify as an “old timer”.

There is a thread on that forum titled: “In MEMORY of the Old Timers”

Usually the phrase: “in memory of” implies they are deceased!

    Outrageous!

In most cities, any place that is meant for people to go through (such as sidewalks, driveways and the like) don’t need to be labelled as such to qualify as tow-away zones.

Any time you park in a way which impedes traffic, it is a tow-able offense. Where I live, the ticketing officer will not leave until the car is moved, either by the owner or by the tow truck.

In most municipalities, cars blocking traffic can be towed regardless if it is a tow away zone.

dash – even in a parking lot which is technically private property?

On private property, the property owner can have the vehicle towed out for parking there in an unauthorized manner.

Being on private property didn’t exempt them from tickets.

Why do I deserve to have someone else’s advertisements in my thing??

I never understood why people would want to wear a shirt with a company name splashed out in gigantic letters across it. Or why someone would be shoes with the company logo standing out in a contrasting color…

People post unsolicited flyers on construction sites, even when they have a sign. The owner can get a huge fine for what someone else did.

You know what I find outrageous????? Having to pay income tax on social security benefits which were taxed at the time that I first earned the money, and were removed from my paycheck to put into Social Security. The Gross income was taxed on each paycheck. So why do we have to be taxed again when re receive the money that was already taxed, but which was unavailable to us until we retired? Am I misunderstanding something here( and before anyone says I DO misunderstand, I asked that question when I first applied for early SS and the person signing me up said I was absolutely right, but that’s our government for you…)

Someone I know, 20+ with a full beard, tried getting onto a bus with a student pass geared for elementary and high school aged kids. When the bus driver started yelling at him, he looked at him with a pained expression and said sadly, “It’s bad enough my principal made me repeat a few grades, you have to embarrass me in public too?”

The most outrageous thing I recently heard is about a successful, accomplished, sweet single girl, in her mid twenties, who had to buy a house so that boys would want to go out with her and she could finally get a date.

    Now that is truly Outrageous!!!
