Teshuva at the Voting Booth
Steve Rosner
But going back to review the chapter, I discovered something astounding. In the song of praise that Deborah sings, we read:
Hear, Oh you kings; give ear, O you princes
To G-d, shall I sing;
I will sing praise to the LORD, God of Israel…
Give Praise, Give Praise, Deborah:
Arise, Barak, and lead your prisoners to captivity…
And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah;
Zebulun is a people that risked its life to the death, and so did Naphtali,
On the heights of the Battlefield
But in the indecision of Reuben there was great deceit.
Why did you remain sitting at the border to hear the bleatings of the flocks?
This indecision of Reuben demands great investigation! (Judges 5:15)
Now most of my life I have not been politically oriented. I did not vote for over 20 years, because of laziness, believing my vote would not count, sure that all politicians were inept, and corrupt to boot, and a host of other reasons. But that was before I heard the sermon and read through the chapter in Judges. I have changed my mind. Now, I not only take the time to vote, but have even volunteered for my local Republican candidate.
AND FOR ONE REASON ONLY!
Show G-d you care about His People, The Children of Israel!
G-d will watch over His people regardless of who gets elected. We only have to remember the words of Mordechai to Queen Esther when the Jews were faced with extinction in Persia.
Do not imagine that you shall escape in the king’s house, any more than the rest of the Jews. For if you altogether keep silent at this time, then relief and deliverance will arise to the Jews from another place; but you and your father’s house shall be destroyed (Esther 4:13)
At this time of the year, consider what a wonderful, loving G-d, we, the Jewish people, have. He is making it so easy to repent.
Do not remain at home on November 2nd!!!
Please pass this on to your friends and relatives
