Does one need a degree to teach at a Jewish day school?

If its a normal school one needs 98.6 degrees for an abnormal one more or less.

    1. In the United States, non-government schools are not legally required to use teachers with any specific academic training, degree or certification. Interesting, the leading private schools (the “prep” schools frequently hire teachers based on competence and academic skills while ignoring teaching certification.

    2. The more “modern” a school is, the more likely the teachers will have American academic credentials, but that is a matter of preference, not law.

It depends on the school. In some schools, a degree is a prerequisite for any teaching position, in others only for general studies (but not for Judaics), and in others not at all.

There is also the question of whether your degree needs to be in education, or at least in the subject that you teach. In some schools a teacher license will suffice.

Any Jewish school is doing an infinitely more respectable job than this filthy school that was teaching its unsuspecting young boys to spite Medinas Yisroel, as was reported on YWN this past week.
