We said long tachanun today for the first time in over a month. It was very inspiring. Sometimes we need a break from something for a while in order to realize how special it is.
April 23, 2015 8:09 pm at 8:09 pm #1151698popa_bar_abbaParticipantI try to always go to a bris on yom haatzmaut. It reminds me that despite the zionists, Hashem still has a bris with us.
April 23, 2015 8:10 pm at 8:10 pm #1151699☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWould you have said long tachanun even if it fell out on Wednesday?
April 23, 2015 8:25 pm at 8:25 pm #1151700YW Moderator-42ModeratorWe say long tachanun on Mondays and Thursdays except on days when there is no tachanun such as yomim tovim, all of Nissan, and if there is a bris.
April 23, 2015 8:35 pm at 8:35 pm #1151701☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantReportedly, the Chazon Ish said tachanun even when there was a bris, l’hotzi milibom.
April 23, 2015 9:26 pm at 9:26 pm #1151702takahmamashParticipantWe said Hallel today for the first time since Rosh Chodesh. It was very inspiring.
April 23, 2015 10:04 pm at 10:04 pm #1151703golferParticipantI had heard that too, DY.
It made me curious.
Do you know from a reliable source that it’s true?
April 23, 2015 10:19 pm at 10:19 pm #1151704April 23, 2015 10:45 pm at 10:45 pm #1151705golferParticipantThanks DY.
So it’s true.
April 23, 2015 10:56 pm at 10:56 pm #1151706147Participantthe Chazon Ish said tachanun He also was exceedingly adamant that every eligible voter must vote at Israeli Elections, unlike some other influence-rs.
I will resume Tachanun after Yom ha’Atzmaut, and re-suspend Tachanun come Yom Yerusholayim. But just for the record:- Both Tachanun & Hallel come from the very same book of Tehillim, 1 being Chapter 6, and the other being chapters 113-118.
April 24, 2015 3:58 pm at 3:58 pm #1151707Little FroggieParticipantDid Ben Gurion say tachanun?
April 24, 2015 4:44 pm at 4:44 pm #1151708ItcheSrulikMemberGlad you got to say it. I’ll have to wait a few more days.
May 17, 2015 2:47 am at 2:47 am #1151709147ParticipantWe recite Tachnun only once this week, and at that:- Long Tachnun, but no short Tachnun this week. Sunday & Tuesday mornings, we utilize the same book of Tehillim, but reciting Hallel instead of Tachnun.
May 19, 2015 10:09 pm at 10:09 pm #1151710☕️coffee addictParticipantthe shul i davened in actually didn’t say tachnun on monday either
shmuel hanavi’s yahrtzeit
addtionally the reason we don’t say tachnun on beis sivan is because it’s in between rosh chodesh and shlosha yimei hagbalah
therefore one shouldn’t say tachnun on erev rosh chodesh, it’s in between yom yerushalayim and rosh chodesh
May 20, 2015 3:10 pm at 3:10 pm #1151711Sam2Participantca: Some wonder about that, actually. I don’t think anyone doesn’t say it but it’s discussed by the DL Poskim.
May 20, 2015 11:42 pm at 11:42 pm #1151712☕️coffee addictParticipantwell the shul i davened in didnt
May 22, 2015 9:36 pm at 9:36 pm #1151713screwdriverdelightParticipantca: ????? isn’t said on ?’ ???? because hashem told moshe to prepare ??? ????? for ??? ????.
May 22, 2015 10:16 pm at 10:16 pm #1151714☕️coffee addictParticipantsdd,
why would that be a reason not to say tachnun?
the gemara in taanis brings up this reason as days not to fast
May 22, 2015 11:10 pm at 11:10 pm #1151715screwdriverdelightParticipanthttp://www.hebrewbooks.org/pdfpager.aspx?req=14165&st=&pgnum=199&hilite=
?”? ?
Where’s your gimara in taanis?
May 27, 2015 1:54 am at 1:54 am #1151716147ParticipantTachanun is resuming tomorrow Wednesday morning Sivvon 9th. … Actually it shall be the 1st regular Tachnun since Friday morning Iyyor 26th, since last week Tachnun was only recited once on Monday morning Iyyor 29th, and that was the long Tachnun, Sunday being Yom Yerusholayim, and Monday afternoon thru today, being Rosh Chodesh followed by Yom haMeyuchos followed by Shelosho Yemai Hagbolo followed by Schowu’os followed by Isru Chag, but tomorrow morning the party is over, and other than Shabbos & Rosh Chodesh, no more omission of Tachnun until Assoro b’Ov followed by Tu b’Ov.
May 27, 2015 2:37 am at 2:37 am #1151717☕️coffee addictParticipantsdd,
i going to need to look it up in an artscroll, i don’t remember where off the top of my head
147,
unless you resume tachnun on the 14th
May 31, 2015 2:16 am at 2:16 am #1151718☕️coffee addictParticipanti finally had a chance to look it up!
it’s in taanis daf yud ches
it doesnt say it specifically for beis sivan, i extrapolated it for beis sivan and like i said it was days not to fast (or make a eulogy)
May 12, 2016 12:47 pm at 12:47 pm #1151719☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantBump
May 12, 2016 1:10 pm at 1:10 pm #1151720☕️coffee addictParticipantThe shul I usually daven in didn’t say tachnun today
I gave up trying
May 12, 2016 2:07 pm at 2:07 pm #1151721☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWe said tachanun with a brocha.
May 12, 2016 2:36 pm at 2:36 pm #1151722charliehallParticipantI don’t say Tachanun on Yom HaAtzmaut. Don’t make sense to say it after Hallel.
I visited the congregation in Madrid Spain. They never recite Tachanun on Mondays or Thursdays. I have never found another community with this minhag.
May 12, 2016 3:35 pm at 3:35 pm #1151723popa_bar_abbaParticipantI don’t say Tachanun on Yom HaAtzmaut. Don’t make sense to say it after Hallel.
Agree, if you were saying both, I’d think it would go before.
May 12, 2016 3:45 pm at 3:45 pm #1151724zahavasdadParticipantWhat wasnt Eicha supposed to be said today?
May 12, 2016 3:52 pm at 3:52 pm #1151725Sam2ParticipantI said Tachanun, half Hallel without a Brachah, full Hallel without a Brachah, full Hallel with a Bracha, Kinnos, Selichos, Eichah, and Shir Hashirim twice just to be Yotzei Kol Hadei’os.
May 12, 2016 3:59 pm at 3:59 pm #1151726☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantYou weren’t yotzei the shittah to not say Hallel.
May 12, 2016 4:08 pm at 4:08 pm #1151727Avram in MDParticipantHe forgot to mention that he said “Baruch Shem” a bunch of times and then went to a later minyan that doesn’t say Hallel.
🙂
May 12, 2016 6:51 pm at 6:51 pm #1151728Sam2ParticipantI started learning 8 Perakim of Tehillim a day a few weeks ago so that today’s Perakim were included in Hallel and I had Kavanah that if the Halachah is like those who don’t say Hallel then I was just doing it L’shem Talmud Torah.
May 12, 2016 8:03 pm at 8:03 pm #1151730MenoParticipantBen Gurion’s shittah was to not say hallel or tachanun. Many people do the same today.
May 12, 2016 8:08 pm at 8:08 pm #1151731☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI’ll follow the Chazon Ish over Ben Gurion, thank you.
May 12, 2016 8:40 pm at 8:40 pm #1151732Sam2ParticipantMeno: That is said as a joke, usually, to represent an opinion that there is enough Simcha to nullify Tachanun but that Hallel is inappropriate. Ben Gurion didn’t have an actual “Shittah”.
May 12, 2016 9:44 pm at 9:44 pm #1151733147ParticipantAgree, if you were saying both, I’d think it would go before. 2 separate reasons to be Makdim Tachanun to Hsllel:-
1) Perek 6 in Tehillim precedes Perek 113-118, and if read in Serugin {wrong order} probably not Yotzei.
2) Todir veShe’Eino Todir:- Todir Kodem.
May 12, 2016 11:20 pm at 11:20 pm #1151734mw13ParticipantBen Gurion’s minhag was no tallis and teffilin, no shachris, and no God. Not a minhag I would suggest following…
May 13, 2016 2:25 am at 2:25 am #1151735Sam2Participantmw13: Of course. That’s why it’s a joke.
May 13, 2016 2:48 am at 2:48 am #1151736mw13ParticipantYes, I figured. But I find the joke to be in bad taste; I don’t like the suggestion that we should allow non-observant individuals to influence how we practice our religion, even as a joke.
May 13, 2016 2:55 am at 2:55 am #1151737☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDoesn’t bother me.
May 13, 2016 3:11 am at 3:11 am #1151738147ParticipantCompared to Obama, Ben Gurion was a far better person.
