This story has intrigued me since I first heard about it but I am a little confused and wonder if someone can clarify the facts. This is very different then the little black girl from her tonsil surgery as it was the exact opposite. There the hospital was refering to her as dead and wanted her off life support and family was fighting to keep her on. Here the family is saying shes dead and wants her off life support and the hospital is fighting to keep her on. I have a few questions that maybe someone can answer. Does the husband want her off solely because that was his wife’s wishes or because now that they know the baby is developing abnormally he doesn’t want to take care of it should it survive AND because it was his wife’s wishes. I guess what I’m really getting at is if he is using the fetus as his excuse to fulfill his wife’s wishes and if would he still fight to take her off life support if the baby was developing normally. Granted the hospital misunderstood the law, but would there still be a court order in the families favor to terminate life support if the fetus was indeed healthy?

If it were, the husband might have thought differently. But since it isn’t, why put the family through an emotional wringer

But if the baby and mother died then how isthat possible? I would really appreciate if someone could tell me what happened!!

The baby was, as I read, “grossly abnormal,” and would not have lived had it been born.
