I have a question; can yeshiva Bachurim follow sports. As a rebbi in a Beis Medrash, many of my Bachurim follow sports and u find that it’s a very big distraction. The game from the night before is always on their minds. How can we deal with this situation?
Compared to many other things that Yidden can turn to in order to find a way to be bitual Torah, organized sports are relatively harmless. And actual participation in sports can even be positive.
P.S. I was going to discuss the other things to to to waste time and divert energy from Torah and Mitsvos, but other than posting on YWN, they are all things that the “mods” would object to.
I suggest don’t follow footballers as you can get hurt; don’t follow sprinters as you will fall behind very quickly; follow marathoners, hopefully you can stay at their speed for several minutes.
As a high school Michaneches and father of many teens as well as a close talmid of the Chofetz Chaim, I’m very concerned for the wellbeing of bored teens who need to find entertainment in sports instead of realizing the beauty of Torah learning and all that it can offer! I think that boys need to realize that their place is in the Beis Midrash and not glued to some goyim tackling each other like behamos!
@farbycoffe
Is that the only problem you found with the post?!?! Not that I’m a father and Mechaneches or that I’m a talmud of the Chofetz Chaim and still alive?!?!
