I don’t know about any of you but I think this whole thing is insane. 75% of the community I live in has no power, people are in hotels, and the electric company is saying it might not be on till Wednesday-Friday. I’m glad my work has power so I have heat and electricity to charge my phone and laptop…
What message is Hashem trying to send us with all these crazy weather related situations…
Maybe we can connect this to the Mabul and Parshas Noach?
October 31, 2011 3:29 pm at 3:29 pm #822790EnglishmanMemberWow! Do you live in Siberia or something?
October 31, 2011 3:32 pm at 3:32 pm #822791miritchkaMemberenglishman: lol! its crazy but it is what it is!
October 31, 2011 3:35 pm at 3:35 pm #822792JotharMemberHashem is reminding us of the wisdom of creation. How often do you think about why trees lose their leaves in the fall? Now you know the answer- because if they didn’t, the trees would fall down in the snow! By sending an early storm before the trees were ready, Hashem showed what would happen otherwise.
It’s also a bracha in that the hurricane produced a bumper crop of mosquitoes. They’re all gone now. It also put an effective end to fall allergy season.
October 31, 2011 3:35 pm at 3:35 pm #822793ZeesKiteParticipantNo. It just means we have to get the mayor of this place (New York City) an early notification. Remember? “PLOW MY STREET!!”
October 31, 2011 3:56 pm at 3:56 pm #822794Busy As A BeeParticipantNo not siberia… More like Rockland County… 🙂
Yeah someone told me yesterday “I thought fall was the season where leaves fell, not trees!!”
October 31, 2011 3:56 pm at 3:56 pm #822795zahavasdadParticipantHe is reminding people to dress tzniut
If you dont voluntarily cover up, I will force you to cover up
October 31, 2011 4:17 pm at 4:17 pm #822796enlightenedjewMemberIt’s because of… same gender marriage.
Rockland County is Siberia, as far as I’m concerned
October 31, 2011 5:48 pm at 5:48 pm #822797☕️coffee addictParticipantZahavas,
Not necessarily, even if they covered up it could still be tight clothing and also I went through manhattan motzei shabbos and saw a goy dressed up for halloween (I know it was a bit early) in a miniskirt
Personally I think Hashem is showing He can change nature if He so chooses
November 1, 2011 3:10 am at 3:10 am #822798ronrsrMemberWe actually have a teenage boy from Siberia living with us for two years. He hates the winters here. He complains they are much too windy unlike Siberia where the cold is tolerable because the air is still.
November 1, 2011 3:11 am at 3:11 am #822799YW BandMemberHere goes blame on Bloomberg again lol.
I just hope this isn’t the begining of more blizzards. How you like the sounding of Blizzard of October! too late for that haha

November 1, 2011 1:19 pm at 1:19 pm #822803akupermaParticipantIt shows the ability and competence of President Obama and the Democrats in general. They announce a crisis due to global warming (they’ve confused historical variance for meaning change), and are trying to enact massive taxes to reduce carbon emmissions (which tend to go up or down realted to weather though no one has proven a direct connection). So it snows.
November 1, 2011 1:31 pm at 1:31 pm #822804JotharMemberCofeefan, agreed. It hit me when I heard them talking about that there will be so much tree damage since the trees still have their leaves.
November 1, 2011 1:35 pm at 1:35 pm #822805A Heimishe MomParticipantIt wasn’t a blizzard!
Jothar, that is a great point. Thank you. Really.
And I have to agree with the boy from Siberia. The wind is way worse than the cold. Isn’t there a Russian saying – There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes – ? Well in windy weather it is much harder to bundle up properly.
