That’s the sound of the padlock being cut from the Lakewood freezer vault. (Officially cracked open today)
May the new surge of singles bring renewed vigor to the dating process, to both newcomers and veterans alike.
Oif Simchas!

Wow you live up to your user name!
February 9, 2012 7:24 am at 7:24 am #851162HaLeiViParticipantShouldn’t it really be snap?
February 9, 2012 1:41 pm at 1:41 pm #851163yummy cupcakeMemberits so funny, cuz yesterday someone was talking to me about tu b’shvat, and i said “yeah today is a BIG yom tov for me and my friends” when asked what that meant, i said “well the freezer opens in lkwd, that’s a big yom tov!” she laughed 🙂
February 9, 2012 2:46 pm at 2:46 pm #851164WIYMemberEven bigger news is that supposedly the “freezer” is being retired as a step towards solving the shidduch crisis.
February 9, 2012 3:02 pm at 3:02 pm #851165pet peeveMemberwiy
are you serious?
February 9, 2012 3:16 pm at 3:16 pm #851166BaalHaboozeParticipant(man, how I HATE and always HATED those terms ‘FREEZER’, and ‘on the MARKET’. makes you singles sound like ‘Shadchan Merchandise’ or something.
I can just picture like all those shaddchanim standing around greedily thinking, “Okaaaaay, new s’choireh…hehehehe!!”(*rubs hands together in delight*) “so now that all you peices of frozen MEAT are thawing out, you are now officially on the MARKET! Now let me just put a PRICE on each of you! hehehehe….”
Wow, you sound like a very attractive bunch of potential datees!
In all seriousness, – may the RBSH”O pair ’em all up, and put an end -officially- to the shidduch crisis in Klal Yisroel and we should BE”H only hear simchas, and may all the ‘dates/b’shows’ go smoothly and easily, and everyone should find their true basherts b’korov!
L’chaim yidden L’chaim!
February 9, 2012 3:21 pm at 3:21 pm #851167A Heimishe MomParticipantI don’t think it should. I think it should be instituted in more yeshivos!
And I heard that someone was suggesting that the boys shouldn’t be allowed into Lakewood older than 22 so that they start dating youger to close the age gap. That is definitely more stupid than doing away with the freezer! (I believ that girls should be encouraged to start dating later, not that the boys should start earlier.)
February 9, 2012 3:29 pm at 3:29 pm #851168bptParticipant” the “freezer” is being retired “
That’s not what I heard. The buzz in my circle is, if you are willing to date someone within 2 years of your age, you are exempt from the freezer
February 9, 2012 3:37 pm at 3:37 pm #851169bptParticipant” Shouldn’t it really be snap? “
No, that’s the sound the lock makes when it closes 🙂
” really yummy ice cream ”
Thank you for reminding me; I meant to post this as a “l’toivas ha’klal” bulletin:(if you eat OU, pareve, that is)
Attention ice cream lovers! You owe it to yourselves to try Trader Joe’s Soy ice cream (we had the cherry choc. chip)
Very good. VERY good.
February 9, 2012 3:40 pm at 3:40 pm #851170WIYMemberEPet peeve
Yes that’s what I heard from some reliable sources.
February 9, 2012 3:57 pm at 3:57 pm #851171OneOfManyParticipantSOY ice cream? What does that even mean?
February 9, 2012 4:00 pm at 4:00 pm #851172yungerman1ParticipantWIY- Cant see how 3 months can make a significant dent in the shidduch crisis.
February 9, 2012 5:21 pm at 5:21 pm #851173bptParticipant“SOY ice cream?”
Its made from Soy milk. Trust me. Its worth the trip. And while you’re there, pick up a bag of the Trader Joes Vegetable chips. As good as Terra Chips, and much cheaper.
But the Soy Cream is the goal. I kid you not.
February 10, 2012 1:42 am at 1:42 am #851174OneOfManyParticipantAffordable Terra Chips? NOW we’re talking. 🙂
February 10, 2012 4:00 pm at 4:00 pm #851175bptParticipantAffordable, as in under $4.00 a bag ($3.29, if I remeber corerectly).
Plus, you get the purchase in a paper bag (when was the last time you saw that?) that tells the world the lenght you’ll go to for great food.
February 10, 2012 4:38 pm at 4:38 pm #851176WIYMemberThe price of junk food is so expensive these days. A bag of chips $4 in from cream $5.50 a pint when not on sale. It’s ridiculous how much we pay to keep up our nosh habits lol.
February 10, 2012 6:38 pm at 6:38 pm #851177Mayan_DvashParticipantAAARRRGGGHH!! the market is flooded with clueless riffraff!
;
February 10, 2012 8:08 pm at 8:08 pm #851178bptParticipant” our nosh habits “
Terra chips (or in this case, the off brand) and good soy ice cream is NOT “nosh”.
Its as important to your well being as oxygen. Or gummy bears.
Man, WIY, you need to chill and flex more often!
February 11, 2012 8:11 pm at 8:11 pm #851179The Best BubbyParticipantYou are right, BPT! Phenominal cherry chocolate chip soy ice cream from Trader Joe’s! As well as their real chocolate chips for baking. Had them when we were by the children for Yom Tov. Anything they make rocks!
Great to see that you are “back in service” more often.
May everyone who needs zivugim hagunim be blessed with them speedily and to be zocher to build a bayit neeman b’yisrael be karov!! Amen!
February 12, 2012 2:01 am at 2:01 am #851180OneOfManyParticipantThey sell Terra Chips at Amazing Savings (of all places, right?) for $1.29 a bag.
February 12, 2012 4:32 pm at 4:32 pm #851181realtalkMemberdoesnt everybody know what the dates on tu bshvat signify?
the more you eat the more you get.

February 13, 2012 5:15 pm at 5:15 pm #851183bptParticipant” Terra Chips at Amazing Savings ..for $1.29 “
The family size bags? Or the single serving ones?
The TJ bag I’m talking about is the big one (where your arm can fit in to reach the bottom)
“the more you eat the more you get.” = Good one!
” Anything they make rocks! ”
Rocks? Wow, that some Bubby!
February 13, 2012 5:59 pm at 5:59 pm #851184OneOfManyParticipantThe big ones. The catch is they only come in weird flavors.
February 13, 2012 10:13 pm at 10:13 pm #851185bptParticipant” weird flavors. “
No such thing. In fact, that’s what makes Terra Chips so special If I wanted taco or BBQ, I’d reach for one of the runner-ups.
But do tell, is it the Amazing Savings on Ave M or the one on McDonald?
February 13, 2012 11:16 pm at 11:16 pm #851186OneOfManyParticipantWell, you must have never tried the one I had this Shabbos. Something Mexican. Forgot what it’s called.
February 14, 2012 2:30 am at 2:30 am #851187OneOfManyParticipantIt’s the one on Ave. M (missed that before). All the way to the far right of the registers.
