I’ve seen them around brooklyn and I agree they’re great for parking around here, but how safe are they? They look like toys not like something people should actually be driving..IMO
December 25, 2008 6:19 am at 6:19 am #628669asdfghjklParticipantwell i’ve never seen the smart car on the streets by me, but i’ve always wanted to drive a mini cooper!!!!!!!!
December 25, 2008 2:21 pm at 2:21 pm #628670myshadowMemberI drive a huge powerful car and if I cvs crashed into one of those, they’re seriously all goners.

December 25, 2008 8:00 pm at 8:00 pm #628675qwertyuiopMemberintellegent-A smart car is an automobile with artificial intelligence (or “AI”) functionality. As automation technology has progressed, especially in the decades after the invention of the integrated circuit, more and more functions have been added to automobiles, relieving the driver of much of the mundane moment-to-moment decision making that may be regarded as having made driving tedious
December 25, 2008 8:28 pm at 8:28 pm #628676myshadowMemberIt’s this tiny little car that fits two people and has a non existent trunk, it can park sideways though in between two cars and it mega fuel efficient. But theyr sooo dangerous. They drive really fast though
December 25, 2008 8:43 pm at 8:43 pm #628677dunnoMemberthose are the cutest cars ever!! do they only come in 2 passengers?
December 25, 2008 9:41 pm at 9:41 pm #628678beaconParticipantqwertyuiop
Good job with the cut and paste. 😉
December 25, 2008 9:59 pm at 9:59 pm #628679myshadowMemberDont think they can fit more than 2. google it
December 26, 2008 12:04 am at 12:04 am #628680KeepinEntertainedMemberlol! theyre really cute but not very practical! one of the funniest things i’ve seen was a friend of mine who’s k”h 6 feet tall drive up along side me in a smart car!!! was rly funny! looked like her chin was in her knees and her head was going to come throuh the roof! theyre def cute and a big parking help, being that you can squeeze in anywehre, but practical…not really and safe… wonder?!
December 26, 2008 12:38 am at 12:38 am #628681beaconParticipantI would be afraid to drive on the highway with it… I’ll open a window and the car will turn… ;]
December 26, 2008 1:37 am at 1:37 am #628682asdfghjklParticipantbeacon: nope never by me!!!
December 26, 2008 3:15 am at 3:15 am #628683squeakParticipantSmartcar – Not very safe, a less than brilliant idea conjured up by some radical environmentalist who is no doubt safely cruising around in a Hummer and buying carbon offsets to assuage his “inner guilt” (the guilt is phony; it is only for justifying contradictory behavior to other people).
We used to have the Yugo that was also built for fuel efficiency, and its size made it dangerous to be in.
From the point of view of the people selling them, it makes sense to get yennem to cut back on energy usage because if yennem cuts back then there will be enough for ME.
What is sad is that gasoline prices reach $4/gal and suddenly people are willing to compromise on their safety. No one would have thought of buying one of these cars in the 90’s when gas was $1/gal. In fact, until recently these cars were illegal in the US.
December 26, 2008 1:32 pm at 1:32 pm #628684SJSinNYCMemberThe first time I saw these cars was in Athens – they are fantastic for places like Europe where the roads are tiny and cars have trouble getting through. These are also great for single people who don’t need much passenger/cargo room.
In the US, the land of bigger is better, you would be crushed by an SUV without much trouble.
December 26, 2008 2:44 pm at 2:44 pm #628685charlie brownMemberintellegent,
you’re sure its not spelled egnorant? 🙂
btw don’t feel bad, I also didn’t know what a smart car is. Just googled it.

December 26, 2008 3:47 pm at 3:47 pm #628687I can only tryMemberThe Smart Fortwo (not a typo) has full-size seating for two adults. Its safety rating is excellent for a small car, and quite good overall because of its well-designed and extremely strong frame.
It is highway-capable with a top speed of slightly over 80 mph, although stability is noticeably affected at that speed.
The mileage is very good, but not spectacular at 33 mg city, 41 highway. The Prius and Civic hybrids get better mileage, and the Mini Cooper is only slightly lower. The Smart Fortwo diesel, which was sold in Canada got almost twice as good mileage, but is not available here.
Parking is a huge plus with such a short (front-to-rear) car in congested urban areas with scarce parking.
The car is made by Mercedes (a German company). The Mini Cooper is made by BMW (also German).
December 28, 2008 5:19 pm at 5:19 pm #628688intellegentMemberBrooklyn 19,

December 30, 2008 4:02 pm at 4:02 pm #628711nfgoMemberTo myshadow: Is there a mitzvah that requires drivers of big, powerful cars to drive more carefully, so as not to kill people who choose to, or cannot afford to, drive cars like yours? And which is bigger and more powerful – your car or you?
December 30, 2008 5:43 pm at 5:43 pm #628712AnonymousInactivesorry its not a mitzva. people like making everything into a mitzva
