It is brought down in the Medrash Rabbah that Moshe Rabbainu knew when he was going to die so he then wrote 13 Sifrei torah,12 to the shevatim and one was put in the Aron. The Rosh asks if Moshe passed away on Shabbas how was he able to writ 13 Sifrei Torah? The Rosh answers because Moshe wrote the Torah with his tears and it is brought down in halacha that writing with a drink or fruit juice one is patur.
Q:If writing with fruit juice or tears is not considered writing then how can the Sifrei Torah be kosher?
A:The Ben Ish Chai brings down that the tears were not long lasting and yehoshua filled it in with diyo afterwards which made all of them kasher.(M’rasin Igri)

October 18, 2011 8:16 pm at 8:16 pm #960167ItcheSrulikMemberThere are some people who pollute our mesoirah by claiming that we should not drink on simchas torah.
Rabboisai this is utter apikorsus!!
Chazal switched duchening to shacharis for a reason! It is ossur to be meharher after them and if they made accommodations for drinking, it is the height of chutzpa not to. V’chol hamarbeh harei zeh meshubach.

October 18, 2011 9:55 pm at 9:55 pm #960169ItcheSrulikMemberI wasn’t serious, but since you asked, I’m happy to clarify.
“Drinking a reviis” means drinking ?????? ???? of wine. (2.15 liters, chazon ish)
Good enough?

April 3, 2013 1:16 am at 1:16 am #960171LanderTalmidParticipantI was wondering if every rvi’is is another mitzvah of simchas yom tov?
The mechaber says that to make your wife happy on yom tov you should buy her clothing according to your ability [financial position]. This means the more the better (as long as you dont over do it “according to your ability”)
April 3, 2013 3:08 am at 3:08 am #960172147ParticipantOnly 177 [25 weeks & 2 days] days left thru Simchas Toroh, so I am already actively learning Nusach Tefilo as well as actively practicing Kerias haToroh for Simchas Toroh.
June 19, 2013 7:11 pm at 7:11 pm #960173LanderTalmidParticipantDid those who finished the Torah once every three years still have a simchas torah every year? Or is the dancing on Shmini Atzeres a relatively new minhag anyways?
June 19, 2013 7:41 pm at 7:41 pm #960174jewishfeminist02MemberConservative and Reform shuls that use “triennial” leining nevertheless celebrate Simchas Torah every year! This is something I never understood. Not only have they not finished the Torah, they’re not even reading in order…Rather than going through 1/3 of the parshiyos every year, they actually read 1/3 of each parsha. So year 1 will have the beginning of each parsha, year 2 will have the middle of each parsha…craziness!
June 19, 2013 8:11 pm at 8:11 pm #960175Rav TuvParticipantDuring the times of Chazal they leined the Torah every 3 years and the gemara in megilla 31A tells us they leined Zos habracha on the day after shmini atzere each year.
