Can someone please advise me as to whether I should venture out to Monsey for Shabbos from New York??? I have work on Monday and I’m nervous I’ll be stuck there!! What should I do???
August 25, 2011 8:03 pm at 8:03 pm #802271a maminParticipantBetter safe than sorry. Stay home.
August 25, 2011 8:05 pm at 8:05 pm #802272yummy cupcakeMemberlast i checked, monsey was IN new york. unless there is a different monsey you are traveling to, or you are in a different new york, that does not have a monsey. so now, what’s your question?
August 25, 2011 8:08 pm at 8:08 pm #802273adorableParticipantyes come to monsey!!!!!!!!!!!
August 25, 2011 8:10 pm at 8:10 pm #802274ronrsrMemberShould I take a kayak to Quincy or Nyack?
August 25, 2011 8:10 pm at 8:10 pm #802275mikehall12382MemberRent a car so you can leave whenever you want after shabbos…seems pretty simple to me.
August 25, 2011 8:12 pm at 8:12 pm #802276adorableParticipantpeople from Brooklyn/BP area think that they are it! (everyone else is OOT)

August 25, 2011 8:20 pm at 8:20 pm #802279be goodParticipantI’m also going to Monsey for Shabbes- but plan on leaving right after.
What’s the problem? They said the hurricane will hit on sunday…

August 25, 2011 8:58 pm at 8:58 pm #802280happy faceMemberBE GOOD, check out the latest update on the storm. they say it will start Shabbos afternoon!!!
August 25, 2011 9:18 pm at 9:18 pm #802281MiddlePathParticipantPerhaps there is a bus or a train? Or maybe you can find a ride back?
I’ve spent shabbos in Monsey a few times, and they were all wonderful experiences. And as yummy and adorable said, there are other places in New York, and even the country, besides Brooklyn.
Funny story- I once told someone from Flatbush that I live in such and such city (to remain nameless), and he asked, “Is that a suburb of Toronto?” And the city is in midwestern U.S.
I’m not trying to put down anyone, this was just a funny story with one person. I’m sure many people from Flatbush are very knowledgeable in geography.
August 25, 2011 9:23 pm at 9:23 pm #802282gregaaronMemberGo – the overwhelming odds are that you’ll either be able to go Motzei Shabbos, or, if it starts that early, you should be fine Sunday night. (Just check traffic reports before heading back.)
August 25, 2011 9:33 pm at 9:33 pm #802283farrockawayParticipantThey aren’t saying it will be any worse in monsey than in brooklyn, you just may not be able to leave. Far Rockaway on the other hand…

August 26, 2011 6:42 pm at 6:42 pm #802295Mr TaxmanMemberMonsey will probably be safer than NYC. Best place to be is in the Country so the further north you venture – i think that would be the safest – based on current prediction of the hurricane.
August 26, 2011 6:53 pm at 6:53 pm #802296bombmaniacParticipant“are you talking to me?”
yes, deniro
August 27, 2011 10:10 am at 10:10 am #802297Moshiach please comeMemberIt’s shabbos now, so you are either in monsey or somewhere else enjoying your shabbos.
