Are you allowed to shop on ch”h or is it just a minhag not to? And sfiras haomer?
Chol HaMoed: assur, except under certain circumstances. Sefira: minhag, and not very reliable one at that.
You cannot shop on the days of ‘sfiras ha-omer’??? never heard that one before.
Chol Hamoed is like Yom Tov as far as shopping goes. Food that you need for Yom Tov is allowed. I once took my children to Manhattan on Chol Hamoed and they wanted to buy some little things that we don’t see in our neighborhood. My husband didn’t think I can buy them, so I called a Rav. He told me that it’s forbidden.
Sefiras Haomer is not the nine days.
Define “Shop”
It is assur to do “Sechora” (loosely translated as business) during Chol Hamoed, except for a Davar Ha’Avud.
You can buy food you need for Yom Tov (you can actually do that on Yom Tov itself, with qualifications)
Anything else, ask your Rov.
In Bnei Berak and frum area of Yerushalayim all shops are closed. Groceries and Pharmacy open a few hours a day. during Chol Hamoed.
All shopping clothes etc should be done before YomTov.
rob: it’s a Chassideshe minhag, primarily based on the mis-assumption that Sefira is identical to the other no-music, no-haircut period of the 3 weeks.
Mischiefmaker, are you also asking a Rav, or are you relying on the opinions of anonymous posters who may or may not know what they are talking about?
on chol hamoed i think its forbidden!

you’re not allowed to shop for like clothes on chol hamoed but i think your allowed sefiras haomer
spiral does that mean things like souvenirs? chol hamoed is a time many people go on trips and like to buy mementos of the trip.
there is an inyian not to WEAR to clothing in sferah but shopping should be no prob.
I once heard that if something is on sale then you can buy it if it will not be on sale after yom tov, because its a ??? ?????
what about buying seforim?
If you need/want the seforim for Yom Tov then its a ???? ?????
